Using Laptop on Hols

    Hi

I'm going on hols on Tuesday and the hotel I'm staying in has "wi-fi access in the lobby" - does this mean I can use my laptop there? My laptop isn't wireless, I use a wireless card that slots into the side at home...

If I can use it, what exactly should I do once I'm there in order to connect?

    Thanks so much!

If you use the card you use in the house then it should work fine. All you should have to do is connect to the network like you do at home although they might have a password on it. If they do just ask a receptionist what the password is.

You might have to pay for credit to use it if it's not free. If you are lucky you might be able to pick up the wireless from your room if it's near the reception.

    Great,

So literally just go into the lobby and click on the 'Internet' icon? No need to fiddle about in 'My Network Places' or anything?

    Thanks People...

You will have to connect to the network manually. Your laptop won't do that automatically for a strange network.

Windows I presume? Click Start, then Connect To, then select the hotel's signal, input the password if necessary.
