I bought a ps3 the other day & now Im looking around to see wheres the cheapest website for games. Ive had a look on play.com & theres one or two older titles going cheap, but by & large its €60 for games, wouldve thought they could be got a lil cheaper.

Also had a look on playasia.com but they dont seem to ship into the eu anymore, presumably their getting sued.

So where do you buy yours. Oh & one more thing, how is the ps3 fixed for region locking, for both games & blurays?

I've never heard of the games-asia one.
Have you used it before and if so how is it?
Also will they ship PS3 games internationally as I think some other asian sites will not

games arent region coded but blu ray is

guil07, games-asia have Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the Year Edition for €42 which is a great price. Howerver, the have it listed in a section called 'PS3 games USA' where as in the section called 'PS3 Games Europe' they only have 8 games listed. Just to be clear, are you 100% sure that if I order this version, it will work on a PS3 bought here in Ireland ? Thanks, Butts.

It should work. I've ordered 2 games from the US and both worked fine.

My original question was to do with the site itself just to know if it was reliable, what are shipping times like and will they ship JAP/US games to EU addresses because other asian sites like yesasia.com don't

I think I may be able to help you out. I can get any game that is available in the US and it will be in PAL format. They will be €39.99

That any use to you? I get PS3 consoles too. Well just the 60GB at the moment.

yep games asia seems to be the only site offering savings on the standard prices on play.com. Mind you play are a significant saving over the high street.

Amazon.com actually had the regular oblivion a fair bit cheaper, but were looking for more than the price of the game for shipping, and the .co.uk equivalent wouldnt let me order games.

Ive ordered oblivion myself from games asia to test the water.

the shipping time for ireland is usually 7-14 days from games-asia.com
and YES they DO deliver to ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 162 ✭✭Hootie

I normally use www.play.com and they are having a massive sale on at the moment. They're a uk site with free delivery usually within 3/5 days

Thanks for that. Might try them for my next purchase.

Movietyme* and videogamesplus.ca** are 2 of my favourites. I'd rather use them than a rough looking site like games-asia, seeing as there's pretty much no difference in price

*free shipping but can take up to 2 weeks for delivery
**~€5 shipping, but quicker delivery than movietyme

Id have to agree about not being fully secure with games asia. A retailer site that only accepts paypal doesnt scream well oiled operation.

I also got a ps3 n thinking about making a purchase,im a bit paronoid tho!Is there no Irish based retailers selling online, like one that just deals with the market here and will deliver ontime??

They do have 4 or 5 PS3 titles I think, but not a PS3 section. if you are after something specific type in the title and you'll find it if they have it.

I typed in Drakes and COD4 and they have them

Do customs tax you on orders form videogamesplus.ca ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 961 ✭✭✭4real

and does videogamesplus.ca charge u in Euros or Dollars??
if yes then wht r the delivery charges???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 509 ✭✭✭butts

I got my copy of Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the Year Edition from game-asia.com last Friday, about 16 days after I ordered it and wasn't charged any customs duty. Although delivery was slow, I would still order off them again if they had the lowest price for a game I wanted.

Ordered 5 games so far and no customs. Delivery time is ridiculous, as in very fast.

    coolio thanks for the info

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,707 ✭✭✭skywalker

I ordered oblivion from games asia on the 6th, & dirt & a bluray from movietyme on the 8th, so far only the bluray has arrived, so neither website is what you'd describe as quick on the delivery front. Movietyme definitely seems to be the cheapest though.

Might give videogamesplus a go for the next game.

http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/ is good for searching for the cheapest prices for dvds & games amongst uk websites. So thats a good one to have too. Probly be a lil more expensive but Id imagine you'd get em quicker.

You're charged in Dollars. Shipping is €5 per game afaik. Generally you shouldn't be charged customs/tax. I haven't been the two times I purchased.

    Delivery time is good.

Skywalker, I ordered Oblivion from game-asia on the 9th and recieved it last Friday. However I did send them an email the Friday before I got it, asking when it would be sent. A guy called Steve emailed me a tracking number and an apology for the delay.

Just in case people think DVD.co.uk is cheaper than play for all items as this seems to imply

    \/
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
    dvd.co.uk £44.99
    play.com £39.99

    Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
    dvd.co.uk £39.99
    play.com £34.99

So the moral of the story is that it pays to shop around folks! I'd recommend every place listed so far because at one point or another, one of them is going to be cheaper than the other for a particular game.

    ;)

    Word of warning about movietyme.

The order I made on 8th Jan still hasnt arrived. I had emailed them a while ago to let them know this, only this week did they accept it as lost.

Their now telling me they have to post me a form, which I should fill in & return to them by post, and only then will they post a replacement. All of these steps, by their own admission, could take up to 21 working days (presuming none of them go missing the way the original did). Ive explained to them several times via email that this is unacceptable to me, but so far they havent budged.

They are cheap, but if this is what you have to go through when things go wrong, its not worth it imo.
