Fluctuating RAM usage...

    Hi everyone...

I have a program called Tune-Up Utilities monitoring the RAM on my system. For as long as I can remember my RAM usage has been about 44% but in the past week or two I have noticed that sometimes when I start up my laptop it is increased to about 55% and stays like that for the session. This has never happened before and the only new software that has been installed recently is Skype and Service Pack 1 for Office 2007. Before I go looking at them has anyone got any suggestions as to what else might be causing it? Its not causing any major issues on my machine but its unusual behaviour so I wanted to suss it out.

    Thanks y'all, enjoy the snow!

skype eats memory, google skype memory usage

it has 2 exes that use about 35mb each

a good trick to reduce skypes memory usage is to rename the plugins folder so that they dont load up, skype will work fine without them.

Thanks mukki. I actually uninstalled Skype a couple of weeks ago so I'm not sure if that was the problem because it still seems to be a bit up and down without a notable pattern... It doesn't seem to be fluctuating as much as it was but its still not as steady as it used to be...

    Mad yoke that it is...

Have a look at your process list to see whats running, then Google the process name and this will give you details on whether or not it's a dodgy process. RAM will always fluctuate depending on what apps you are running at any given time..

Download and run HiJack This and post the resulting log file.

Ah well thanks for having a look anyway. Maybe something will present itself over time...
