god of war 2 help needed please

aaaghh...i'm stuck at the boss battle on the pegasus where you have to defeat the guy on the raven. Its just a matter of tapping the buttons shown but can't manage it. I've even lain on the floor to get better postion. Any ideas or am i just crap. The first game was a lot easier and I want to enjoy all of this too. cheers
