    Now you said it!

I can just see it: "one of the most unique foods in the British Isles, the Blaa was introduced to Watford in Southern Ireland under the reign of Queen Victoria..."

[qoute=fricatus]I can just see it: "one of the most unique foods in the British Isles, the Blaa was introduced to Watford in Southern Ireland under the reign of Queen Victoria..."[/quote]

Wasn't it not introduced by the Hugonaughts (wrong spelling) before this

Oh yeah, sorry... during the reign of Queen Mary II :D

The Daily Mail certainly wouldn't make a monarch-related mistake!

    Perhaps a bit off-topic, but what's Blaa?

I've often seen the term Blaa associated with Waterford.

Right, I've just broken my blaa virginity, courtesy of work's canteen. I'm now eating a blaa with butter and strawberry jam. Looks and tastes like a bread roll with butter and strawberry jam too me. Nice though. :D

Visitors staying tonight, one a Déise expat (gone to the big shmoke), the other who's never seen the Quay at night, never walked past Muldoons at 3.30 in the morning at the weekend, never said "whaddya tawkin about buoy, eh?", or drunk a can of Hoffman's down by the John's River, never seen Coumshingaun, never worn blue and white on a summer Sunday... and never had a blaa... ever!

Her whole life will change at breakfast tomorrow!

Unable to find this article at all.. ill double check, but its mostly stories and ramblings half way through the paper. I didnt come across any reference to the blaa..

The Dail Mail isnt the best of papers, buts its the best out of all the tabloids - including the Indo. Irish Examiner, Irish Times etc. are a different class of paper with more quality articles.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,620 ✭✭✭Roen

Well they're all rags, all that changes is the presentation. It's on page 54 of Thursdays one, the paddy edition.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 24,056 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sully

The Irish Times / Examiner is certinally not a rag!

What's up with the severe shortage of good soft floury blaas lately? All I can find are the hard crusty non-floury ones :( the gums are cut off me.
and blaas can only have one of 5 fillings -
    buhher on it's own
    cheese
    rashers
    sausages
    red lead
    anything else is blasphemy.

Oh and I am outraged at the new regulations whereby red lead is now pale pink lead. yuk. Doesn't taste the same without the nuclear neon colour.

I went into my local Centra this morning, not a blaa in sight!
