    They're in different colleges.

    lmao :)

Also one is fun, and the other is med students chugging you. If you can spare the time (i.e. you're a fresher, an arts student or both) I'd recommend getting drunk and hopping on the no. 10 bus to Belfield for an afternoon of frolicking.

I happen to be all of those things. Thanks ApeXaviour for the advice!

As for the other sarcastic replies; you guys crack me up. Well done. Really.

We're actually being kind. It's to prepare you for the let-down that is TCD Rag Week.

I wouldn't expect a JF Arts student to understand this, though.*

    *That's me just being cranky.

You're supposed to "Raise and Give" for a charitable organisation. The reality is quite different -- a public display of binge drinking from the SU hacks. I'll never forget witnessing the iron stomach in 2003 I think it was -- it was revolting and tourists were absolutely disgusted by what was going on. Charitable giving and iron stomach competitions are inherently incompatible with one another in my opinion.

My mates in UCD said all the different societies organise different nites out etc....is this the same deal here?

On a bye-note, I hear the UCC rag week is quite the savage cabbage, as it were.

Nothing really happens in Trinity Rag Week because of the different nature of Trinity's social life from other universities in the country. We are a city-centre campus with pubs and clubs five minutes from our doorstep. It is much more grown-up in general than other colleges. For further reading, see the mediocre article that Dubliner magazine published last year on the subject.

Mediocre you say! Was it written by you?

Back to my original question, when is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,916 ✭✭✭ronivek

There's nothing quite like attending lectures while covered in partially digested sour milk that was projectile vomited at you by crazy people. Ahh the memories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,523 ✭✭✭ApeXaviour

That was likely me if it was 2004 or 2005. If so, sorry about that.

Back to my original question, when is it?

week beginning the 25th of february. vdp generally raise a lot of money by sending people out onto the streets of dublin with buckets and rag week t-shirts. actually does raise quite a bit of money for charity but could be better. med-day for example raises way more in a day! think the slave auction is on that week aswell (su sabbat canddates get naked to try raise money for charity-generally a fairly disturbing experience).

I think all said, the sabbat election candidates night is the least fun part of Rag Week. Though it's a close-run thing.

anymoo. me thinks we as students have to make rag week good. dnt mind me sayn, but screw the ents. we need a lil committee to gather every year to make this thing ****ing legendary. if not, its carlow, ucd, galway or cork rag week 4 me. we need to contend dammit!

There is a committee that Dave Byrne began setting up this year iirc, - got in contact with all the societies about planning and events.
