    Disapointing :(

I really was expecting a masterpiece when Tom Hanks was starring in a film written by the excellent Aaron Sorkin but I had to turn this off after an hour such was the boredom.

Maybe I need to try it again with lower expectations but I really was anticipating an early Film Of The Year contender because it was written by Sorkin (West Wing). The dialogue isnt even close to his usual snappiness.

Anyone else seen it and what did you think?

I would have to disagree 100%, I think Tom Hanks was perfectly suited to the role and put in an excellent performance, Hoffman was brilliant in my opinion.
I thought it was a very witty film that provided laughs from start to finish, there was alot of dry humour and i thought the film portrayed well the problems that America has created for itself and gives a good insight into the politics back.
The film balances well the seriousness of the situation with alot of humour.

It was decent, Hoffman's fantastic. Does feel very rushed, and the ending is horribly abrupt. Oh, and Julia Roberts, not sexy. at all.

The film isn't out in cinemas yet (as far as I know). Viewing a substandard pirate version is never comparable to seeing the real thing and certainly not something to base a review on.

Viewing a substandard pirate version .....

    Rather presumptious Gunther?

I'm looking forward to seeing this one, there was an excellent interview with the guys behind the movie in the Sunday Times culture section recently.

    How so?
Is it possible to have a top-quality pre-release home viewing then?

From what I hear, there's not too many screeners doing the rounds for any movies anymore. Is there one available for this movie? (I'm not interested in getting it myself -just curious)

Screeners almost always find their way onto the internet around award season time then it all quietens down for the rest of the year.
