From the Northern Regional Fisheries Board:
Here are the details of the first salmon of the season if you are not aware of them. The Salmon was caught on the Drowes River from the Money Hole at midday on Saturday the 5th January. The fish weighed 13lb & fell to a black Flying ‘C’ spinner. The captor was Colin Gardiner from Lurgan, Co. Armagh, a regular visitor to the river. (He also caught the first salmon in 2005). Colin was presented with the Perpetual Trophy by fishery owner Shane Gallagher. The fish was presented Brendan Faulkner of the Foxes Lair Restaurant, Bundoran. Brendan is organizing a buffet dinner to raise funds which will be donated to the Paediatric Ward of the Sligo General Hospital.
