    During the ads breaks I flicked on Jigs and Reels - I'd not seen it ever before so its cheap tattiness came as a shock. Hideous spangly wimmin and lumpy fellas dancing badly to songs that can't be danced to.

    Nah, the ultimate low was acheived on New Year's Eve 1999, when the clock struck midnight and the nation greeted the year 2000 (the biggest party ever!) to the sight of Pat Kenny dancing with Liz Bonnin.

    Tonight's 'celebration' reminded me of it. Blech.
