    Taken from breakingnews.ie

Dell and Tesco today announced the availability of Dell notebook and desktop computers in Tesco.

Beginning next month, customers will be able to purchase Dell XPS and Inspiron products in Tesco stores, primarily in the UK, with sales also in Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

good to see i guess. they started doing the same with walmart in the US a few months back, so guess its the same sort of idea.

hope it won't replace the dell outlet sales though or something like that :)

Well if the prices reflect that of the same systems on the website, it would make things very convenient indeed. Watch out, HP! ;)

Yeah Dell hooked up with Wallmart last summer - from what I it was pretty good value and very popular over there.

Don't see it going that well, as there'll always be better deals online. Also, people will mix "online deals on Dell" up with "offline deals in Tescos".

Does this mean that Tesco won't be selling IQONs anymore?:(
    Damn you Dell.:p

Actually when I rang dell the other day there was a new option on the auto menu.
Press 1 if you purchased your system from Dell.
Press 2 if you purchased your system from Carphone Warehouse.

    Whats the deal there?

If dell starts this ,whats stopping them manufacturing in bulk outside Ireland and selling in the likes of tesco ?

If the systems are pre-built ,then theres no need for factory here in ireland?

Nothing, be cheaper for them to be at it abroad anyway

Has IQON not gone into liquidation?

Last time I read about them, they had a pretty rotten net worth.

I'd like if they started stocking Vostro's.

If they do this for 6 months, squeeze some other brands out, and then go back to direct selling, they could really clean up.

AOL is giving away free laptops when you sign up for bb in england. you have to go into the carphone warehouse to order that deal, which is why the option is there

I've heard Dell have done a deal with Tesco to sell their PC's - not sure if they're going to be branded differently but they will definitely be manufactured by Dell and sold in Ireland and UK

Well if dell are selling pcs in tescos all over europe they only need a few different varients.. A couple of thousand(or hundred thousand?) of the exact same pc is gonna be allot easier n cheaper to make than a load of different spec pcs... I'd say the in store pcs will be near enough if not cheaper than the online pcs..
