My brother heading over to new york and have convinced him to pick up a laptop for me on the condition it involves little or no work on his part.

Depending on how long your staying have NewEgg deliver one to you,

CompUSA (if there still open and in business) , BestBuy, J&R near Ground Zero. Theres any number of places he could walk into and grab you a laptop. Even the (dare I say it ) Apple Store.
