I got a laptop at xmas and want to get online. My home PC is connected to eircom broadband through the wall and has no wireless reciever, so must stay conected through the wall.
So do i just get a router and thats it? I have the netopia modem from eirocm.

Can anyone recommend a cheap wireless router thing (is that all i need) and away i go?

You can either get a new netopia wireless box, or a separate wireless box with an antennae. This second box you simply connect to the existing router with a data cable (read the reviews). Just make sure your new lappy has wireless capabilities, most likely it has.
I'm sure other posters will have alternative approaches.

Ask Eircom if they will upgrade your modem/router to the latest wireless model. Maybe just maybe you can get it cheaper than buying it from Argos/PC world etc. My Netgear wireless router was €50 from NTL (I think)... Would have been about €100 retail from above stores.
