    that could be tricky but not impossible.

    A dormant volcano could be made using chicken wire shaped roughly into a mountain and add texture and detail with papier mache, the old paper strips and glue trick.

    You could use sheets (glued together) or a block of polystyrene and carve out the shape using knifes, files and sandpaper then paint.

    i have seen one of these made with an old coke bottle as the inside and the the chicken wire and paper machie, the lave can be made by mixing vinegar with something else i think it was bread soda but i could be sooo wrong!!
