would anyone have any ideas about building a lei tai?
a lei tai is the raised platform used in sanshou/sanda competition.
i googled it and cant find any info on buying constructing one
    its usually a 24 feet by 24 feet ,2 to 4 feet high,matted platform(no ropes).
    any ideas appreciated

I think you should check out www.alibaba.com. or if you want I can find out for you in China, I am not sure about feet, in meters it is 8m×8m×0.6m。check this out http://zhongchengwang.sportszhan.com/product_9179.html. The web site is in Chinese but they must have some one who speaks English, you can send them an email.

I fought on them a few times. Just make one. When I have fought on them it was like a wooden box, or like a school stage with mats on top. Pretty simple.
Make sure you have your insurance sorted for all the separated shoulders you gonna have.

    Peace

    cheers.
there's a lot of talk here about sanshou/sanda but no competitions in ireland that i've ever heard of so i'd like to try and get something going.

You dont need a lei tai for comps. I mean if you want to promote the fights (and you should) then get one but just to start off withyou could just fight on mats or in a boxing ring.

true.but better i think for people to get ataste of the real thing, its a different dynamic and diferent pschologically with the fear of being thrown from a meter high platform:eek:
then there's a sanshou leauge based around central europe who are interested in expanding and have said they would send clubs over to fight for this you'd need a platform
still though, any sort of a comp here would be a start and mats would suffice

Totally I've flown off lei tai a few times haha fun stuff. Generally though the Lei Tai is so enormous that you can avoid being near the edges if your in anyway good. The main thing is that people start training for San Shou and start spariring and competing however possible.

    Peace
