    I bought a Sony DAV-DZ230 yesterday.

I'm not sure how to best connect up my Sharp Aquos TV, XBOX elite and NTL Thomson box to it.

My TV has an audio line-in, HDMI, Composite video input and S-Video input.

I have two Scart leads, two HD cables, the standard XBox cables and a major headache from it all.

Please help as I am considering returning the system and paying more for a model with more inputs.

That sound system has no audio input. Your best bet would be:

Get a 5.1 sound system with optical-in. This will provide you with digital surround sound whilst playing your games.

Hook the sound system via HDMI to the hdmi connection on your TV. Set it to 720p---1080i will only come out as 768p, and there'll be digital downsizing. 720 is pure, clean, un-digital-ised picture.

Hook the NTL box into SCART ONE, and set the box to RGB Output, providing you with as clear and sharp as possible a picture.

Great cheers, but if I connect my sound system to the TV's HDMI port, where do I connect the XBOX to on my TV?

MY tv only has one HD port and I don't want to use standard definition for the XBox.

Do I need a system with a HDMI input as well as a optical and HDMI output?
