N98 8GB: larger system memory after booting, no memory card slot (8GB storage built in), better battery, better screen

(Aside: Latest firmware for original N95 has provided some improvements in battery life and system performance over earlier versions)

The earlier N95 has also been said to have problems with a loose slider.

The latest V20 firmware has been a disaster for battery life for me. Full battery going to bed one night and I woke up at 10A.M. and the battery drained with no usage during the night whatsoever. The prvious V12 firmware was much better.

N95 here with v20 firmware and it kicks ass.IMHO same screen as the 8GB and basically the same phone.I love it!

P.S. Both phones have the same ~ish amount of free RAM on bootup with the new v20 firmware.

It depends on the branding/product codes of the phone. I had to do this with mine to get it to update. I got min in the uk so I'm not sure what affect it will have on Hand sets here!

It means where your phone came from has not got the update yet.

Keep running the update software on it.

Could it be a Voda/02/3 locked phone?

is the camera and menus faster on the 8gb version

    Ram: 64mb SDRAM memory on N95 vs 128mb on N95 8GB
    Screen: 2.6 inches on N95 vs 2.8 inches on N95 8GB
    Battery: 25% more capacity on N95 8GB
No clumsy camera lens cover on N95 8GB (used to constantly activate camera in pocket accidentally)
When purchased (on Vodafone anyway) it has free voice navigation for 1 year included (€60 worth I think) ..
... and until the end of the January sales its the same price on Vodafone prepay as the N95 is

I have both and theres no doubt the N95 8GB is faster to operate.

N95 8gb is slower loading songs onto it cos there's no sd slot, it's built in memory.

Looks like the original N95 will soon surpass the N95 8 GB in memory terms.

Sandisk have announced launch of a 12 GB microSDHC card here

N95 8GB looks sh|t hot and has a great slider. Just love the action on the slider, click, click ,click, click, click, bam it stays in place. Can play with it for hours.

He may be talking about the N96 which is due for release around August or so. It has 16gb memory but I doubt there will be a 16gb N95 at this stage.

So he must have got his N's mixed up !

I asked for a date but he couldn't give me one so I am not sure where/what to do now on a new phone. I like the look of the N95 and have used 1 so like it. But I love my SEk800i and like the look of their X1 phone coming out soon.
