A few questions about getting a connection to the internet on my PS3. I have wireless Eircom broadband.

On the manual Internet Connection Setting its asks for the following:

    -Default Router
    -Primary DNS
    -Secondary DNS
    -MTU

    Where can I find these?

Also would you recommend to use a Proxy Server?
    Enable or Disable UPnP?

so its stuck at NAT 3?...... ok what ya need to do is manually set up a connection.....

click START on your computer desktop then click RUN, type CMD, this will bring up a small black screen, type in IPCONFIG, there you'll get the ''subnet mask'', ''default gateway'' and ''ip address'', you have to assign a separate IP to the PS3.......

in my PS3 setting i set the IP address for my PS3 to 23(i.e 192.168.1.23)
    sebnet mask at 255.255.255.0
default router, primary DNS and secondary DNS all set to the default gateway my P.C gave me in the CMD place(i.e 192.168.1.254)

then in internet explorer type in your IP address to bring you onto your router box page..... enter expert mode, configure i have Upnp turned off....

in FIREWALL aswell on the main page in expert page put that to LOW from medium, i had all other things done before but with firewall on medium it was still giving me NAT 3!!.....

select your router from that page and you'll get the ports for the PSnetwork add them in expert mode in case!!

there should be 5 of them PSN1-PSN5

i think all netopia routers use the same ones so the link above will show you how to open the ports!

(if people would do a serach they'd find this post frm few weeks back)!!

    Just got this message:

An error occurred during communication with the server.
    This is a DNS server.

Why are you setting it up manually - does your eircom router not give out automatic addresses? Or did the automatic setup fail?

It keeps timing out when its trying to obtain the IP address. Hence why I'm trying it manually.

Have you got MAC address filtering enabled on the router? Thats the error I get if I haven't allowed the MAC address in.

Or maybe you don't have DHCP enabled on the router (if it does it - most do), and so it'll never get an automatic address - in which case manual setup is correct.

Did you ever turn this off on your router? I expect an eircom one has it enabled by default...
Do you have a computer that connects to your wireless? how is it set up?

Yup my computer is connected to the wireless. What do you mean how is it set up?

The PS3 and your computer should connect to your wireless network in exactly the same way. So, for example, does your computer get an address automatically, or is it set up manually?

    My computer is done automatically.
