    What store was this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

None in the Waterford store. Must try and get one somewhere for that price.

the same thing happened with an audio device I bought in pcworld.

I got it for 20euro cheaper than the cheapest online price, I wreckon it was a mistake on their system.
Best thing would be ,not to ask about the price and just bring it up to the till.

Got this in Sligo this morning.

They have 2 models one for 250 and one for 300.

The 300 euro model has the following spec.

    1.83 Ghz Core Duo Processor
    512 MB
    80 GB hard disk
    DVD +R DL/ DVD +- RW
    Intel GMA 950 Grpahics processor
    built in ethernet
    wi-fi
    apple remote

The 250 euro has a slower processor, dvd ROM and a 60 GB hard disk

They are marked at half price.

Much different processor too, but still a steal at the price the OP got it for.

How long will this offer last? How hard is it to change the DVD ROM to a Rewitter?

Given the design of the mac mini, I'd say it's impossible.

    Not impossible, just awkward.

I've swapped in both ram and a hard disk to the mac mini with a bit of effort. Main problem was getting the blasted thing open! Used a pizza cutter eventually to get in at the edges. DVD might be do-able but you need to make sure the height is right on it etc as its a slot loader. Can burn on other machines so why bother unless this is your primary one. Great media box overall. Did they have any of the €300 left in Liffey Valley? I was thinking of making the trip...

BK did you ask in store or did they not have any on display or what?

BK did you ask in store or did they not have any on display or what?

Non on display and asked three staff, including manager.

Staff weren't really very helpful, one guy claimed that it most be first gen mac mini's that were on sale.

I kind of got the impression that they actually had some in the stock room but just weren't bringing them out because they knew of the sale in the other stores.

Perhaps if you just tried asking for one without mentioning anything about the sale, you might have more luck. Only mention the sale at the till.

I'm really kicking myself now, my sister was even in the Limerick area earlier today, I always miss out on these sort of cool deals. :(

Friend and I bought one each this morning for €249. I asked at the til and they brought them from the stockroom. The staff had to ask the manager first when they saw the price on the till.

I bought one in Limerick today, didn't come with the superdrive like Flapjack got though :(
The manager was adamant that the display price was correct. I asked him would he please check and he came back and told me I was indeed correct and that the price was €249.xx.
He went and got me one from the back and then removed the description/price leaflet from the shelf.
    He didn't seem happy :)

They only had one 1.6 GHz Core Duo machine left (display machine). Was offered it for €250 after questioning the price. Wasn't too keen on accepting it. Only other mini was a more modern Core 2 Duo around the €700 mark. Very disappointed :(

I went there at about 18:30 today (28th), but didn't see any displayed for 299. Did you have to ask?

These are probably the usual clearing off stock they are getting rid of. You can quite often find a bargain if you find the right thing in the shop.
