Coal Fireplace - Crack just appeared

    Hi,

I just got my Gas Fireplace converted to a coal fireplace (concrete back was already in place) and i started lighting small fires with firelogs for a few days, then moving up to brickettes, then finally onto coal.

These coal fires were going great until 1 night i heard something crack. Upon inspection the next day this concrete backing has cracked on one side.

Question is do i need to get this sorted, like repaired or replace the concrete backing or can i just light fires to my hearts content?

    Can provide photo if needed...

Sounds like you have a ceramic firebrick ,which is designed for gas fires.
You'll need to get a cement cast one and stick it in.
