How old are you out of curiousity?

That car is over 10 years old so that will limit your choices even more as most insurance companies won't touch any thing that old.

And pray tell John, what about your current insurer? The one you've been earning even a years no claims discount with....

Come on man, it's a Cossie and you're 25. Nobody's going to take a serious punt on you keeping that between the ditches, certainly nobody in the traditional brokers anyway.

The only crowd I can think of is XS something or other, with the 4K excess.

    Cheers, and good luck.

I think the main issue is that they are a theft magnet and very easy to steal. I think this might be a problem more than anything else TBH.

Has to be as Souper said.

My friend has a 1.8T 150BHP A3, is 21, full license for less then a year, 1yr NCB and Quinn insure it for 1300. He is importing a 225BHP S3 in early january and it is 475 extra - still 10months on the policy.

Must have a reputation for thefts and/or finding its way to scrap yards!

what year cossie is it? you can get classic insurance on cars over 20 years old, so an 87 3 door cossie??
I thought that quinn had to quote you no matter what if you are a current customer??
Ring them back and check it out with a different lying bast*rd

Seperate, you can hardly compare a "golf in a frock" with an all time classic performance car like a cossie.

try hibernian man they quote for evreything... skylines, silvias the lot... the price might not be to your liking but they do insure you unlike quinn who are ****.

The only place that will insure a Cosworth that I know of will be www.brittoninsurance.com, like Gil_Dub you will have a 4K excess on the policy and your quote could be 3 - 5K.
Also more than likely they will only insure you TP as they class Cosworths as a high risk car to be stolen.

Has it got a tracking device fitted? If not, I would strongly recommend that one be fitted. That may make the car insurable, and cheaper to insure too. They are such a rare car, haven't seen a Cosworth of any description in so long! Remember Jeremy Clarkson and his Escort Cossie? Car cost £21,000 to buy and has was quoted £22,000 for a years' insurance!

Well try www.gocompare.com, i got a quote but still wasnt happy so i rang them and got an even cheaper quote for my Golf Vr6. Ive even got my bikes insured from using that website.

Dont put your real phone numbers in if you are just trying it out, otherwise you get phone call after phone call...

    Good luck

Is it a real escort cosworth and is the policy in your name ?? , if so I don't know how you got insurance from Quinns and how your only paying €730.
My brother had an RS2000 and Quinns wouldn't insure it, only place that would was Britton insurance, he paid €3400 TP & 4k excess

I only drive the real deal :D:D no wannabes!!
I have a couple of other motor policies, so that helps to keep my premiums down...I dont no why your brother is paying that much money - thats crazy ****e. the sapp is a limited edition Rouse Sport Edition, which makes that car extra special from your standard sapp when insuring:p
these are not my daily drivers, but are still insured without any restrictions etc..

Your telling me, as soon as the insurance company heard "RS" he got 'insurance group...., high preformance sports car, high risk to be stolen...' , your one of the lucky ones.

they said that to me aswell but im in the coutryside, cars in secure location off the road and trackers fitted etc.. all the things they want to hear i suppose.. get him to try AXA - calling into them would be best rather than over the phone. with axa they will insure any car over 20yrs as a classic. I have to wait a few more years for this:mad:
