Just thinking back over the year and the shenanigans that entailed on the boards meetings, thought it might be fun to pull together a few pics in one thread. Might give some noobs the inclination to come along seeing as how we're all so lovely - or indeed it may scare them off...

I'll start with a couple of my own:

    418089189_32463846c4.jpg
Inspecting stumps at Balbriggan harbour, where we saw seals, took lots of weathered boaty pictures for bleach bypass processing

And then went to DarrenG's place for some assorted grub and photoshop lessons:
    418020339_979c89584e.jpg (on a mac, unfortunately :p)

I hope Leinsterman doesn't mind me posting one of his from Charleville (first trip, January 2007) where you can see just what an attractive and normal looking bunch of people we really are:
    366410586_bb1cc9049b.jpg

In February we wrapped up and headed out to IMMA, here's Fajita's group shot:
    411502119_2d57acaf57.jpg

In May we had a bumper weekend with Ireland's Eye on the Saturday, close encounters with angry seagulls...
524604696_4cc056d04d.jpg (Pic is of Sebzy, by Rymus)

...and on sunday in Avondale, we terrorised some poor animals:
    516831748_0393562f1a.jpg (taken by Valentia)

    then terrorised some greenery:
    518282232_e9ab36e9bb.jpg (another shot of Leinsterman's)

Had a marathon climb up a hill, pic by Bovril:
    521187151_86e4b5733b.jpg

It was a mountain, I tells ya! Then we composed ourselves and Leinsterman took a lovely group shot at the top while we enjoyed the view:
    516576720_1a9534fd25.jpg

A few of us got organised and went along to People's Photography in September too, you can see us all working really hard to make those sales:
    1251035517_2d11bc1d85.jpg (another of Valentia's pics)

Aww, I'm going all misty eyed just thinking about the fun we had...

I'm sure there are tons more, including my holga group shot from PP which I need to retrieve from a CD somewhere, and Fajita's group shot from the second trip to Charleville - come ooonnnn with that would ya?

Anyway, if you have any floating about, g'wan, post them up, let's have a look :D

me neither., is this a yearly thing elven?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

The events happen every so often. Maybe someone might come up with an idea for one soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

Ah so we haven't scared you off after all :D

The only thing in the pipeline just now is Borderfox's horsey thing in January, but I think all the spaces are taken on that one already because it's very limited due to the subject. It's definitely time for some suggestions so we can plan something in the new year though - if anyone knows of a place or event that would satisfy a bunch of picture hungry photographers, by all means speak up!

We do have a calendar to update and keep an eye on these things, but it's looking sadly empty just now. We need ideas and suggestions...

Pretty much, if there's an event, or a place of interest, we'll organise numbers, get together, and head off... usually turns out to be a good laugh... With plenty of boozing in the evenings... :D

The 6th shot there looks like some blue uniformed army, trapsing through 'nam...

    I'm only in 3 pics... :(

Great idea for a thread alright. Made me smile looking at the pictures and I need that at the moment.

My first meet was the Kilmainham one and I am so glad I forced myself to go and meet a bunch of strangers off the internet ;).

It was also the year I got banned (hehehe) and then unbanned. Who'd have thunk it.

May next years meets be even better.

Ah, see, that's what happens when you go stealing sofas in a castle with wifi ;)

Any ideas for something in the next month or two? I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms...

How about one in the Wicklow Mountains but then again that guy from Lough Dann might have something to say. Other than that something pretty central which would make it a bit easier for other people than the "Dublin heads" to get to.

I am going to Inischrone on the 30th for hot seaweed bath. Do you want to join me? ;)

    Dear Diary...

    Oh my...

Thonda, your next post is your 1000th. Use it wisely.

I'm usually on for a wander round wicklow. Just not sure what's for shooting just now, and how the weather is going to behave itself. And if any snow falls in scotland, I won't be here ;)

No idea at the minute where is good to go. Have lonely planet on Ireland must consult that. I was disappointed that I didn't go to the flickr meet dublin's meet in poolbeg station earlier on this year. Might not be everyone's cuppa though.

Hmmm only went to the Peoples Photography event during the year but it was a great 2 days, must make an effort to get to some of other meets for the new year (yay I have a resolution!).

Here are a few shots from that weekend.

My favourite portrait taken is of the wonderfully talented Danny.

And finally elven showing us her sales technique for the weekend (I'll be in trouble for this one!).

Dammit. I knew I should have censored that one.

And I sold prints because they were nice, and not because I wore a low cut top...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Yeah Yeah Christ I'd buy a crayon drawing from you in that top :p

(oh I am waiting for Danny to post the picture of me leering from that day as well!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

    You mean this one?

    1243392352_c07563a0fe.jpg

What a great thread. I think I've been to most of the meets this year.

    007926A964B0464EA9004DC072B18560-800.jpg
This is from the Fota meet which was poorly attended so I brought my dog to make up the numbers :)

We really need another meet soon. I haven't been out as much lately (except for the Rubgy) taking shots.

    LOL.

Gollum in the background of Darren's shot :D

I made it to two, great days out with like minded folk.

And sometimes unusual opportunities present them selves,

I showed this thread to my mother at xmas! She's laughing here beside me (great shot of Gandie!!!).

I missed ALL of the outings and I can't think of anything in 2007 I regret more in fact.... :(

I will definitely be going to at least some of them this year!

    DeV.

On the subject of a possible idea, not too long ago I was in Mellifont and Monasterboice plus Clogherhead and wondered if it might find approval. Mourne Mountains also an option (yes, I live on the northside of Dublin).

re outings outside the GDA, yes, they exist. The first boards.ie photography trip I did was in Kerry, and as mentioned, we were in Cork at some point - both Darren and me traipsed down from Dublin (and I missed a kite gig for it). Really, all it takes is for someone to name a date and place, cross a few fingers and away you go.

does anyone know if there are any good urban places to explore like run down building etc., Ive been looking at some of the UK sites like 28dayslater and they organise "urbex" outings where they go to old factorys ect, i remember seeing one where they went to the old rover car plant. it was cool, it almost looked like time had just stopped. the production line was still there with half built cars still sitting on it.,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

Malahide Castle would be great too, and its on the dart. I grew up there and there are loads of little hidden places if you know where to go.
