Hello ,happy christmas all or whats left of it.

I connected up this ps3 eye camera and I'm wondering what the hell I bought it for. The downloads on the ps store aren't up to much at all.

The microphone is good on it though .

Anyone any opinions on it ,or how to use it best ?

Burnout Paradise uses it to take pictures of your horrified expression when I plow into your car from the side without warning. I've also heard that the mic can be used in place of a headset for VOIP in games etc. It should work with voice/video chat in XMB too. Games-wise I'm not sure I'd be at all bothered. Maybe something good in there.

In all fairness ,there is one really great thing about it.

The ps3 is wireless so it can be put anywhere really and now theres the availability of video calling from any point in the home.

The microphone is very impressive ,even at 10ft away.

I don't think it's aimed solely at kids to be honest ,the microphone seems to have a lot of work put into it.

Sony have a couple of amazing programs around for it ,but I can't find them anywhere. One been a realtime face and hair changing video program ,where your hair changes colour etc. Great for parties and stuff.

As soon as you can buy one on its own, I will... For parties and nights when we um, have the munchies. :)

And when the applications arise for cam-sex using the TV+PS3, expect these things to fly out of the shop "for the nipper"...

    ... and you think I'm joking :)

    DeV.

I bought one by itself in HMV the other day.

I'm wondering if I can log into it using my PSP remotely, thus keeping an eye on my house while away?

Seems that few shops if any in Ireland are stocking them without either Eye of Judgement (Virgin Megastore) or as a bundle with a PS3 (Sony Centre). You can buy them alone online from Komplett.ie though. Amazon and Play.com won't ship them to us.

Nice one. For €40 I'd go for it.

I got mine in Gamestop Santry, not sure why I bought it either, the stuff online stinks, and there's nothing as fun as the Play series of games for it yet, ah well, another doohickey for the bottom of the cupboard I suppose!

does it not act as a mic for warhawk?

I haven't tried gaming with it yet ,but I did a sound test with the mic and its nicely done.

Standing 6ft away from the mic ,with the ps3 volume turned up I can talk with virtually no feedback.
I don't see why you couldn't use it in gaming.

Got it today with Eye of Judgement for €60 in Game.

I was curious about Eye of Judgement.... just not curious enough to fork out the €110 they were looking for originally. But I must admit.. it's pretty damn cool.
