    Hi guys,

Found out today that my other half ordered me a Mac Book Pro for Xmas :D .
Only problem is she left it kinda late to order and its not due to ship until Friday.
Thats not bad at all as im so overjoyed i really can't believe it.

Now my question is do u think the MBP will receive a total overhaul at Mac World '08 on the 15th?

A minor update wouldn't bother me too much, i just don't want to seem ungrateful by asking her to cancel it and order again in 2 weeks.

Ive no real interest in the rumored tablet notebook thingy, so im just wondering weather i should say it to her or not?

Don't take this as me bein ungrateful as i really can't wait to get my hands on it. To be honest i really don't wanna wait.

    Any opinions?
Also this will be my first mac, any killer apps ye would recommend?

    Cheers,
    Bryan

I doubt it'll be a major revision, if any. But if you can afford to wait then it might be no harm.

Likelyhood is the new one will run a little faster.... Should be nothing major, but in saying that I got my mate an ipod in the US and the next day they realesed the bloody ipod touch... The man in the apple store did ask was i sure???? Thought he was just being helpful.

    Hey bluemachavel.

The MBPs are definitely due an update. So if you can ask her to cancel and wait I would. Sure a few Mhz won't make much difference now but it might 2/3 years from now. It's a big investment so you want it to last as long as possible.

Generally I advise people to just go for it and not waste time waiting around for the next upgrade that may or may not be on the horizon, you could be waiting forever. But in cases like this when a new revision is almost certainly imminent, it's just good sense to wait imo.

Anyway whatever you decide I'm sure you'll love the MBP.

Aren't the MBPs due a new case design? And a higher res screen to take advantage of resolution independence in Leopard? I would wait til the 7th if I were you.

As I remeber it Apple had a policy that if you bought an item and it was upgraded shortly there after they would exchange it for you for free. I don't remember the terms and condidtions but you may want to phone Apple about this and ask them.

As for good apps, can't go wrong with some of the stuff on the apple website's download section.

I doubt we'll get a touchscreen MBP it wouldn't be fun to use. Imagine all those smears on the beautiful screen! If there is any multi-touch trickery, it'll be in the trackpad, although I don't see how it would work. I'm sure Apple will be happy to show me anyway!

God the first day there's a significant MBP upgrade is going to be painful (got mine in September) :D
