    That is the weirdest promotion I have seen in 2007. I'd love to know if anyone will actually uses this. Potential for a spot on Sky news i'm sure or possible page in a tabloid...

    It's an ill-conceived marketing gimmick, that's actually illegal because it discriminates on martial status, sexual orientation and gender grounds. As far as I know, discrimination on these basis is illegal, when providing services to the public.

    besides all of that,,,,,,,,,who would want to stay in a travelodge..rude staff, stained bedsheets(if there was a smiley depicting "vomit" I would use it here)

    obviously very few married couples are joe and mary
    of these only a tiny amount of them will hear of this promotion
    of those who hear of it only a tiny amount will avail of it

    so its a bit ridiculous really

    While I disagree in principle with this promotion, I've stayed in a few Travelodges and never came across what you've described. My experience of Travelodge has been very good; clean rooms, nice comfy beds, great showers and helpful friendly staff. Generally they're a hotel brand I'd recommend, if you can get the room at a reasonable price, for example below €50.
