I saw it in Tesco Roscommon today. I think there was only one left but there could be more in the back. Tesco closes at 6 o' clock today.

I doubt there will be 30% off this price - that would make it only €490

Most HD plasmas are 1024*768....full HD plasma is still in a more premium price bracket and only done by Panny and Pioneer AFAIK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 747 ✭✭✭EyesOnly

Sry forgot to say it was vouchers, theirs 4-5 in the back in roscommon, dont know how many on display

Almost sure this is an LCD not plasma

i presume this offer includes ps3 and xboxes'?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,042 ✭✭✭kaizersoze

I had a look at one of these today and wasn't impressed. It was side by side with a 42" Philips and both playing the same DVD. The picture quality was very poor in comparison. I didn't even bother asking the model number or specs.
Maybe it wasn't setup correctly or something but it just wasn't right.

If it can be got for €699 minus 30% then it's probably a bargain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 506 ✭✭✭Cully

This deal is happening starting tomorrow in Tesco.

€699 Seg 42" LCD (not sure specs - think it's SEG Rhodos Schwarz)
    €899 Nordmende 42" LCD (model number NM42780)
€999 Philips 42" Widescreen Flat TV LCD (model number 42PFP5332\10)

Offer DOES include Audio/Visual, so Nintendo DS's, XBoxes, PS3s, iPods, TVs, etc....

Their XBox deal is €369 and has Forza 2 and Viva Pinata free. (take 30% off it)

Also... Just to confirm... you get VOUCHERS back in feb... You don't get money off it.

Was in my local Dunnes Stores this evening and they have LG 50" on offer for 1299 and 30% off in club points its a HD set does any one know anything about this set of has purchased one

    Thanks

I know nothing about the dunnes offer, but here's what I did find when trying to compare the tesco ones...

    Philips vs SEG
    - Philips has 3x the brightness of the Seg. (1500cd/m2 vs 500cd/m2)
    - SEG (1036 x 270 x 737), Philips (1047 x 264 x 764)
    - Sound Output power: seg 2x8w, philips 2x10w
    - Internet tells me that the Philips is a Plasma... Box also doesn't say LCD anywhere... It says "Pixel plus"..
    - Resolution: Philips (1024 x 768), Seg (1920 x 1080)
    - Weight (without stand): Philips (31.5kg), SEG (30kg)
    - Both have 2 HDMI connections, 2 Scarts, Philips has svideo, but can't find anything to say that the seg has any.)
    - Inputs: Philips (480p, 720p, 1080i, 480i, 576i, 576p), SEG (720p (50Hz760Hz), 1080i (50Hz/60Hz), 1080p (Full HD))
    - Reaction time: Seg (6.5ms), Philips (2ms)
    - Viewing Angle: Seg (176 degrees), Philips (174 degrees)

Can't figure out which one I want.. anyone know anything that might change my mind?

I'm not 100% sure, but I can only find one type of Seg 42" on the whole internet... and it's got 1080i and 1080p. If it's not the same one as This, then my info is wrong.. Apologies.

The Philips definitely doesn't have 1080p. My friend has the philips, so I can answer that one 100% accurately

Not completely sure... Try it? My local is a 24 hour store except for saturday night. It opens tomorrow at 10am, where I'll be waiting. They have a Seg held for me.

I know because I was looking at one in Tesco today and it looks nothing like the picture on the other site. It is identical (in looks) to the pic I posted from Dunnes Stores site. I don't have a model number or any other info because I lost interest when I saw the picture quality. (See my earlier post).

Lets face it lads. If this was a full HD set they'd have the specs well advertised. I seriously doubt that it is.

Meh... i have had a little too much whiskey to head to mullingar and check but i think kaizer has it sussed.. not full hd and the set (which i have seen in both stores) is very ugly..
Will stick with the 32" for now.

I'll be going in myself tomorrow to have another look. If they're taking another 30% off I might take one.

According to 30Ferry in post #23 of this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055206934&page=2
    it has started already

I checked in Lucan at 11pm earlier and was told New Years Day. If I knew it was on for sure I'd go back over

It's on in my store for sure, but don't know about everywhere else.

Anyone got any info about the Nordmende model? The model number I gave is definitely correct, but I can't find any info on it. I know the product number is right because I took a picture of the box today. (I couldn't see the SEG to get the model number)

Yeah the staff member was probably holding it for themselves, I mean yesterday when I was in there were people buying the Segs off the shelves, I suppose even without the 30% its a decent bargain for the ordinary Joe Soaps.

I'm getting mine for my Xbox (which I'm buying at the same time)... I just wish I knew if it was 1080p or not... also it'd be nice to know if it has a pc monitor connection (to connect the pc to the tv).
