New battery for G4 Powerbook 12inch ?

    Argh ... battery life has been dropping for some time now, and seems to have given up the ghost completely.

    I can't complain, as the battery has served me faithfully for several years now, and has never let me down.

    Any ideas where I can get a replacement battery, at short notice ? I guess buying online is my only real option.

    I've seen the prices for genuine batteries on the Apple store ... pricey.
    Are there any third-party sites/suppliers that people here would recommend ?

    It's a 12 inch G4 Powerbook, aluminium, but I guess the battery colour doesn't matter to me as much as the price.

    For new batteries this site seems reasonable enough. Beware cheap batteries - you get what you pay for is my motto and it hasn't failed me yet.

    Ebay is another option but obviously avoid second hand batteries. A battery's capacity is effected by storage conditions so choose your vendor carefully.

    Guess what? The model and serial numbers on my Powerbook match those listed!

    Did Apple put a time limit on this exchange program for faulty batteries ?

    Is this still valid ? Guess it's worth a shot :)

    How much does a filled in form cost ? . . . . A damn sigt less than a replacement battery I'll guess !!!

    got a replacement batt for my 12". It does not fit 100% and was told be apple that this is normal...just incase you where wondering when you get it and it don't fit! It works but the batt is not flush with the casing of the laptop.

    faulty batt exchange is still open too.

    Update for anyone who may be interested.

    I filled in the form mentioned by ZENER. Got a confirmation mail 3 days later, and a shiny new battery arrived shortly after the New Year celebrations had died down.

    New battery fits perfectly, same look & colour as the old battery ... and best of all, it gives me approx 3.5 hours of happy browsing :)
