Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but I'd like to say fair play and well done to the lads and lassies who were out fasting/sleeping on O'Connell street. Was down there last night posting the last of the Christmas cards at the GPO and gave them every cent me and my mam had on us. Think they were doing it for Focus Ireland. Anyway fair play for doing it especially how cold it was last night.

    Fair play to them.
I can imagine anyone visiting the city would have thought the homeless issue had gotten a bit out of hand

Annoying little b*ll*xes, they kept walking up to people in groups harassing them. No different than the chuggers that go around.

I saw the tent there and figured I might pop over and make a donation, but then 3 of them came up to me and started to harass me and trying to get me to donate. I just said no and walked off. Several groups tried again later.

Charity should be by choice. You shouldnt be hassled or guilted into giving if you dont want to/cant afford to.

Us teenagers are misunderstood, I think. What may appear as harassment can often be a genuine attempt to be helpful, however misguided. At the end of the day they're TY kids, all about 16y/o and camping on O'Connell Street. You have to allow a bit of leeway for that, there's always going to be some messing involved.

Read what was posted bub

The person was all set to make a donation being they were hassled by the clowns collecting. Like others have said, collect for what ever charity you want just dont be an asswipe about it and bug folks.

I have absolutely no problem with charity. I'm sure they collect a tonne of cash every year and fair play to them for it. But the way they single out people and try to send you on a guit trip really bugs me. I intentionally ignored them at first but I just gave in at the end and gave them a fiver to get the sticker. Its not the way to be going about collecting for charity IMO

Just do what I do every year, as soon as they start walk up to the first one you see and quickly give them a bunch of coins. Once you've a sticker you'll be hassle free for the rest of the Christmas period.
