At the risk of stating the obvious, a monitor has to be HDCP compatable to accept a HDMI connection from a PS3, of the two monitors mentioned in the first post, only one seemsto mention HDCP compatbility. (?)

I have the LG monitor hooked up to my ps3 and I am very happy with it. Just bought my first blueray today and it looks very good on it too

Thanks for the replies. Just got €250 voucher for Peats for Christmas, so think it will have to be one of the two above. Both monitors supposedly work with PS3 even if HDCP isn't mentioned on the second one. I'm sure the staff in Peats can clear that up anyway....

Come in and ask for me and as a fellow boardsie I'm sure we can do a wee discount.

    Thanks eo980,
Which branch do you work at, could do with some good advice. Was on the Peats website again and think the LG seems better. It has 2000:1 contrast versus the 700:1 on the Hanns.G and I've heard that's a good thing! Also spotted this: http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?view_product=1&id=21593&sid=14&cid=139&scid=499
Would it be worth the extra cash for the extra 3' and is Asus a good brand or should a stick to a better known brand name? Thanks.

You won't see any resolution difference when using the PS3 as both monitors will work at 720p, so your not going to get any resolution increase by going for the 22" monitor. It's not like a PC where you can up the resolution.
Asus actually make nice monitors but it is a good bit more than the LG so the decision is really down to you.

How close do you think you'll be to the screen? Do you mind splashing the extra cash for those 3 extra inches even though they don't bring any real benefit?

BTW - I normally work in our offices but I'm in Parnell Street over christmas.

Well, I plan on using it as my PC's monitor as my graphics card has DVI output. So I'll be using the PC and playing PS3 at about 3 foot away and watching Blu-Ray movies at about 12-15 foot away. I don't mind spending €150 if there is a genuine benefit with the 22'.

Edit: Just noticed that the 19' LG has dropped to €229 and the 22' Asus has dropped to €349.
So with my vouchers it's only an extra €100 for the Asus. Now I'm not sure what to get!

i have an asus screen myself fantastic quality, like eo980 said go in and have a look and try and talk the price down with himself, go in with an open mind though things can be much more delicious looking when your a foot away as against the little picture on peats.com but anyway for me i'd say go for the asus.

Hopefully I'll get in there in the next couple of days. What are Peats opening hours over Christmas?

As mayordenis said you really need to see a monitor in action to appreciate which one you want. I didn't realise you'd also be using the monitor for your PC. In that case I'd go with the Asus, but you need to see both and judge for yourself.

The prices have dropped as we've now started into our sale, but there's still a little room left for a discount!

I'm not 100% on the opening hours, I'll try and clear that one up for you.
