There are 4 top flight football divisions in England

They've been renamed a few times but currently Premiership, Championship, League 1 & League 2.

Only one team (and are currently in one of these divisions) have scored over 1,000 goals in each division.

    Name that team!

    Wimbledon?? :p
Not a bad guess I suppose, as they had to rise through the divisions.

The correct team are still in the top four divisions and tbh, I'd consider MK Dons a different team entirely

    Preston North End?
And if thats a no I'll go for Fulham.

    ****e, mis-read the question.

Did Leeds spend a long time in the lower divisions back in the day?

PNE is most people's first guess. Big team back in the day.
    Not Fulham either.

Sorry ibid, not Leeds but I'd say they'll be the next team to achieve this record since they are moving up and down divisions :)

    Notts County ?

Neither of the Nottingham teams and tbh I don't remember Notts County has a long spell in Division 1.

Edit: Apologies, it seems Notts County are one of the oldest clubs around and were in Division 1 for years.
    God bless wikipaedia

    Keep guessing though

If "Big Club in 40s and 50s" is a hint I will say Wolves.
