    Hi all,

The brother's missus has just started a new job with a company that
develops software for the aviation maintenance biz.

Anyone know of any nice and easy introductions to the world of planes
    and aviation?

    Thanks

Airliners.net is the largest aviation dedicated site on the net; the forums are used by thousands each day and all the latest goings on in the aviation world are being discussed there by the minute. Where I got interested (and learned about all the various types and specs of aircraft, and the ins-and-outs of the industry) was by reading the monthly magazine - Airliner World. This month's edition has a great article on our very own Aer Arann.

    Hope that helps.

Got the magazine in Easons, thanks for that. It's great. Has a good article on the mighty Antonov Cargo
Plane that the Russians used to use to move their space rockets around during construction.
    Hell of a yolk!

The Antonovs frequent Shannon the odd time for maintenance; an impressive sight indeed. The mother of all Antonovs - the AN-225 - visited SNN last year (this year even?) so we do get our chances to see them in...person!

Thanks for the tip about the magazine.
