met up with a girl i used to work with last night. she is 17 i am 25. she came back to mine and we talked for ages. Got on really well and ended up kissing her. Didnt sleep with her. I could have but decided she was too young. Was this the right thing to do or should i have slept with her? Could we have future when she is older?

Like i said in another thread, if it's all legal it's all cool.

I personally would:D But would i see any long term potential? It would depend on the girl, but i honestly couldn't imagine myself in a relationship with a 17 year old, i'm 24. As much of an immature prick i can be, it's nothing compared to a teenage girl!!

    25/2 = 12.5
    12.5+7 = 19.5

The rule says shes too young.

20 is my watershed, and even at that I probably wouldn't date women who're still in college, or more than 2 years my junior.

If at 25 you reckong you could stand the innane prattle of a female 17-year-old then I guess go for it, although I'd be happier if she were 18. But I guess it's all nice and legal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,884 ✭✭✭Rattlehead_ie

As Quality said you should talk to her about it to be honest, but as the lads perfectly state she is of legal consenting age so therefore there should be no reason stopping you if you both like each other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Have talked about it and decided to wait and see what happens when she turns 18. Do like her and get on well but would feel guilty if I doodled ( a phrase someone used earlier) her before she turns 18.Thanks for replies

    Sex on the first date?

    Classy bastard!

It's fine, but if you're going to go for it properly, as in go out with the girl, prepare to be slagged to fúck by your friends and for your parents to think you're a total weirdo.

    Just speaking from experience like!

Meh. I've met 17 year olds going on 40 and 40 year olds going on 17.

    Age is irrelevant over 17.

Well, probably slightly worse.. A girl who has fancied me since she was 15 is now 17.. 18 very soon, Recently she has matured a lot, and we met up a few times.... and we kissed... Im 30.
I dont know what to do either.

I think that kind of age gap is way too significant. If you were 35 and she was 27 it might be different but a 17 year old girl is still a kid

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 161 ✭✭bilbo79

Assuming she is not an immature type 17 yr old i'd have no problem getting stuck into her! she's legal and at her peak as a female sexually productive wise, yummy!! if you would not go there all the more for me. ;)

haha this made me laugh today

tbh 17 is too young, you;ll have to listen to far too much teenage crap imho and you'd be better off with someone older

I'm 23, and to me a 17 year old is a major Do. Not. Want.

    Up to you though.

Though she might be a mature 17 year old remember if you do start a relationship with her you will be going out in the company of other 17/18 year olds and speaking from experience I would say think long and hard about this.

The OP isn't talking about a piece of meat at all, rather someone with whom he'd like a relationship. Thankfully he seems to have some degree of respect for her.
OP she is still only a kid, but if she's out of school and a mature 17-year-old I can understand your dilemma. Look, if your feelings are being reciprocated, I suppose it would be unfair to deny yourself.

I'm 20 and I wouldn't get with a 17 year old. For god's sake she can't even see all the movies in the cinema yet.

And to the guy who's 30, if I was that girls father I would literally murder you. Please get someone your own age. *shudder*

Please leave her alone, the frame of mind she's in is different from yours. You are like an older brother’s friend that she's had a crush on...
She may seem matured but at 17 the sky is the limit and she's got loads of time. Leave her until she's 20 and if the feeling is still mutual then you can start something

Are you mad 17???? Have fun picking her up from school :D I am 21 and I would not go near a 17 year old

    1. They are Immature

    2. They cant drink in a pub leagaly

    3. Your 25 mate that is soo wrong on many levels

are you so imature you cant get a woman your own age? because that what it sounds like to me.
And to the guy who is 40 you are 1 sad F@@K
If I found a 25 year near my 17 year old sister I swear I would put him in hospital

17 year olds are chidren. She has no idea what she's doing. You probably do, somewhat.

You made the right decision. Stay away from her I reckon...

What ever happened to half your age plus 7?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

That gem is a load of cock. Surprised people actually buy into it.

I don't like men going out with girls who are really young, but what the girl wants needs to be taken into account too. I love older men, always have done. But I suppose I wouldn't have gone out with one when I was in my teens.

So what? I presume you're 28 so it's still fukin' sick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

If the OP actually likes this girl he will feel he has a connection with her above age and so much feel she's mature enough for him, I think you should go for it, only don't mess her around, we're usually relatively inexperienced at that age.

I don't see why you're so surprised at our reaction. You're situation is EXCEPTIONALLY rare.
And I also have an issue with the argument that it's legal so it must be ok - as if it's only about sex. What about emotional maturity or the lack thereof, life experience etc? Age is just a number when you're older I agree. I'm 29 and my boyfriend is 41. But it's not quite so simple as age being a number when you're a young kid of 17.

WHY, most men love the school uniform fantasy, its a best seller in most anne summers, you are well known for arguing and i think this is just another case.

I don't think 17 is too young in any way...16 would be but 17!

Exactly - for women when they're a lot older than school age. I may be argumentative but I think plenty of people would be inclined to agree with me on this score. That Britney Spears video, the tAtU one - they provoked outrage.

I'd be very surprised if every heterosexual guy wanted to hit on a female who isn't even a fully-fledged woman. I wouldn't fancy a 16-year-old boy.

16 Is not 17-and to a young girl that can be a big difference, also 16 year old boys are way more immature than girls of 15 or even 14, your just trying to make it sound bad-i think your just been a wind up.
