    Hi,

Does anyone know of any gyms that will do six month membership? I'm thinking of heading to Oz in the Spring or Summer and don't want getting tied into a 12 month contract. My friend got into LA Fitness for Six months last year but only after some serious negotiations. Preferably in the D6 area.

    Cheers,

    B.

You can train with us without any contract. After that, when you're travelling, any CrossFit affiliate would love to have you train with them for a week or so gratis I'm sure.

Granted we're Dublin 24 and you were looking for D6 but I guarantee the trip will be worth it in terms of instruction and comaraderie you won't get in a big box gym.

I've found that if you go in with cash in hand, and say you want a six month membership, you'll get one. Paying cash has the advantage that you don't have to stop direct debits at the end, or any of that nonsense.

I would've thought most gyms allowed this? Especially when paying cash? When I first joined Citywest it was for just three months, paid cash...

The YMCA on Aungier Street D2 has walk-in-off-the-street-pay-€6-as-you-go type membership. I used it a few times and its grand.

We have a special sale at the month, which offers you a 6-month peak membership for only €199. It's a very special offer because we usually only do a monthly direct debit option (€75 Joining Fee + €65 Monthly) or an Annual Peak Membership, which costs €625. The offer started today and ends on Christmas Eve. You can pm if you want me to save you a place - 47 places left at the moment.

There are a lot of gyms that encourage you to pay by direct debit, and you'll often find that you can't join for less than a year. Even with a doctor's note, you'll have problems cancelling membership. If you pay upfront in cash, they can't pull anything funny, and you can often talk them into giving you an extra few months or something similar.
