Hi There and welcome to Carlow.

The gym 'thatguy' is on about is McFitt Gym on Barrack Street and is located over abrakebabra in what was the old bowling alley. It has weights and cardio equipment/areas and an aerobics Check out their website/bebo site studio.http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=4382994255

There is an educogym at the back of the Superquinn shopping centre. It is mainly based around supplementation and lifestyle and an exercise programme. Here is a previous discussion here on boards about educogym http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055151091

The Talbot Hotel has a gym. It is on the portlaoise side of the town, on the ring road. It has a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, weights and cardio. Details and rates anseo http://www.talbotcarlow.ie/html/leisure.html

The Seven Oaks hotel also has a gym and pool although reports are that the gym area is a little small during busy times. Details anseo http://www.sevenoakshotel.com/tVrYX5hHuB5dErlFb6jk2LGz/linkto.aspx

There is another really serious weightlifter gym on Cathedral Street in Carlow. I can't remember the name of it. It is run by an eastern european guy big into their competitions and weights. A lot of hardcore dudes there. If you are looking for frills this ain't the place to go but if you are looking to lift heavy then this place or Mc Fitt are for you.

If you are down here to study in the Institute the College gym is pretty good value for €45 per year. .

Other than that good luck, Carlow isn't a bad spot. I'm here 10 years next year.
