Seemingly an N-registered helicopter flew over RWY10/28 in front of a departing Learjet on Monday.

Lear pilot wants heli pilot hung, drawn and quartered by all accounts. Understandable really, wouldn't you look before crossing a road? :)

    300th thread on A&A btw :)

Did the helicopter pilot have to look? He probably was following ATC instructions. I'm sure the AAIB will have a report soon.

I still check for traffic going both ways when crossing a one-way street on a "green man". Given how easy it is to check and the potential results of failure to check, I figure it's worth the effort. :)

It will be interesting to see the report.

Ditto - when I was flying, I could be cleared onto the runway, but I'd still check for approaching traffic before entering.

Will definitely be a good read when the report comes out. Amazing how even such basic mistakes can be made by professionals. Of course, there could be more to it and probably a bit unfair on the heli pilot to jump to conclusions, but still.

OP have you a link to any article about this? I thought EIDW traffic transiting the area can only do so at a reasonable height and when quiet.

Just passed on to me by friends working in DUB. Have looked for independent verification but haven't found any.

Sit tight and I'm sure it'll be confirmed, heard it from reliable sources.

    You ALWAYS look.

I was at an airfield in France ( where they tend to speak French to F- Registered aeroplanes ) .

We got clearance onto the runway to backtrack/lineup ( I was in the RH seat ).... anyway , the PIC started to moveforwards , I took a good look to my right ( the direction aircraft were landing ) and shouted STOP.... there was a aircraft on short finals whom the ATC had been chatting away to in french so we didn't understand.

Tell you what gave both of us a bit of a start thats for sure.

I learnt my lesson for sure , when I started flying I double checked any instruction given by ATC using my two eyes.
