    Girly girl or a devil-may-care?

I'm a bit of both I think...I'm v girly in some ways, eg. love pink, girly novels, cry easily, etc. but then again I don't really wear make-up unless I'm going out for a night, don't look after my nails all that well....and DEF don't watch what I eat most of the time!!

Id kinda be inbetween as I hate pink, wine, coffee, smoking and find Bridget Jones v annyoying
Love Die Hard films, going to gym and shopping but into fashion, would colour co-ordinate alot, so no hot pink and yellow around here

I'm a real girlie girl but at the same time I'm a right Tom boy too...so a bit of both...like I love all the girlie shopping, hair, make up, pink etc but I'm a real outdoors girl and love getting my hands dirty and getting out in the countryside with my horsies and doggies (such a farmer's daughter!!) so bit of both I suppose...I think most girls are though, every woman has a girlie girl and a Tom boy in them I think.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭lezizi

Im a tomby i think, I have more male friends i get on better with men. Im looked at as one of the lads.
I dont have alot of close female friends as i rarely have something in common with them, and my best female friend is like me she is a tomboy too.
To look at me i look like a girly girl, Im a beautician always have my makeup on and hair done and dress girly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,756 ✭✭✭Jules

I would be a bit of an inbetweenie!!!

I like hanging out with the lads and watching like ladish movies, i don't wear makeup during the day, as i generally end up cover in doggie/cat pee or poo. And like others i only really wear it when i am going out somewhere. I do like chick flicks and chick lit. And facials and getting my nails done.

    So yeah im inbetweenie!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 180 ✭✭MLE

    Bit of both.

Only wear makeup when going out out.

Rarely wear skirts and heels only to special do's

love Die Hard, but then I love Bruce Willis.

    Love Circle of Friends too.

I dont think anyone is strictly one way or the other.

Im a rock/metal kinda gal. I love metal music, rock chick/gothic clothes and have a depraved sense of humour. I hate make up with the exception of black eyeliner and eyeshadow. I'm a bit of a nerd as well. I love computers and the like.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 582 ✭✭✭Lola123

Girly girl in most ways. Wear make up every day and really into clothes (and all the extras such as shoes, bags etc!).
Love chick flicks but equally love stuff like Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
I'm not girly in some ways though. I don't get offended easily (eg. the word c*nt doesn't bother me) and I'm not shocked and appalled by phrases such as "I left her with a face like a painters radio". Although, maybe thats nothing to do with being "not girly". :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,122 ✭✭✭LadyJ

Both women and men find my comments and jokes completely shocking
in general. I wear makeup most of the time and dress up in dresses and skirts on nights out.
I guess I can be a bit of both really but it depends on my mood.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭Femelade

i'm a bit of both too..i dont bother too much about makeup and stuff unless at work (i work very part time) and going out, i do like to get dressed up when going out, makeup, hair all done and skirts and boots, but during the day i wear jeans and hoodys and trainers..
I'm not into cars realy, i have one, but i dont keep it tidy and clean..i dont have any pick dice or pink fluffy steering wheel covers, for me its just 4 wheels to get me around..
i dont wear pink really, i think its cos it doesnt suit me really.

i dont do that squeal that girls do when they meet in a pub/club/on the street..either.

I'd be a mix of both, I was a tomboy growing up and I prefer hanging out with lads (girls can be so vacant and bitchy. Boys are so much sounder)

Used to be really into my metal/ hippie style a few years back but I also love getting dolled up, dancing to Rhianna and drinking alcopops in a club! And I smell nice and have soft hair and big boobs ;)

I'll watch gross out comedies and action films but I'm a sucker for stuff like Love Actually and I cry so easily at love films! I HATE chick Lit though!

I can be a right minger too, like belching and stuff, that's funny to me! I have a potty mouth. I don't shame! And I'm a bit of a tech geek too. I watch Top Gear, and I quite likes my pr0n too. That's quite a lad thing, or so I'm told. I like snakes and lil verminy cute furry critters and spiders.

My best girlie qualities are being manipulative, bitchy and seductive/ cutesy. I'm a domestic goddess too, I loves teh cooking and cleaning (but I loves my takeaway too). I know how to play men... and women too for that matter!

Very active. Like to dance, swim, surf, workout (Taekwondo and Iaijutsu), party, and cook. Fun to be with someone that's active too.

i'm a mix of the two. girly enough to like makeup and shopping. don't do female strops tho, don't believe in manipulation, am very straight forward. don't see any reason for belching or farting by either sex, nor do i find it funny. don't watch the soaps at all, read alot of crime stuff, would be very pragmatic & calm in my approach to difficult situations but then i go gooey over kittens. Just a healthy mix of the two.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,166 ✭✭✭Cheeky_gal

Quite the girly girl as in love my Pinks, clothes, shoes, handbags, tear jerkers, backstreet boy posters etc. lol!

but then again...I much prefer the company of lads and would get on a lot better with them than with girls, just don't go along with all the bitching and backstabbing with girls...also quite like my footie, hammerette as they call me!

And when it comes to music....I am quite simply one. techno. nutter!!! :D:D

Bit of both as all the other lovely ladies have said.

I go to college in my O'Neills/Jeans and hoddies, no makeup. However when I do go out I take pride in my appearance: makeup/hair/cothes/shoes. Nice for people to see the two sides of me..atleast they'll recognise me in a shower of rain unlike some girls!:D
I hate shopping. I hate pink. I hate alcopops. I cry watching sad movies. I know all about cars. I don't get stressed out. I love watching all sports on the TV, playing fifa on PS2, playing sports with the lads as all my female friends are crap at sports and they'e a better laugh/rougher. I don't mind getting dirty/breaking a nail.

I'd rate myself as in between myself.

When i'm not in work, would wear a lot of casual stuff during the day such as jeans, comfy tops or pj's if im hanging around the house, except for going out at night - will dress up then, would normally wear skirts during the day, during the summer months. As well as doing it myself, would get a blow dry done once a week at the hairdressers just to keep it in good condition - well worth the 22 euros. Colour wise - I'm easy as long as it's not brown - ever since i had to wear a brown uniform for 12 years in primary school - i was put off that colour for life!!

Enjoy shopping, can watch anything on the tv or movies - except films/dramas about wars ( just how many films does there have to be about WWII or Vietnam), enjoy reading & travelling. sadly never have time to do sporty stuff but would love to start something in 08.

Never let anybody dictate to me what i can & can't do. Very loyal to anybody who is close to me. I don't have time for snobby/stuck up people, I would be a person that can be confided in and trusted not to go blabbing to all and sundry. Love kids and get on great with them when i'm around them. Love animals except the usual reptiles/insects. I love to just sit and have a laugh when i'm around family/friends whether it be visiting the nana's and meeting the extended family & enjoying listening to everyones stories ( hey, i'm making the most of it now while i've got the chance - it's times like those that i want to look back on in my life how many years from now and remember fondly, that or just hanging in the pub or eating out with friends exchanging the latest going's on in our lives

My only disadvantage would be that i have a terrible habit of giggling/keeping a straight face at the most inappropriate of times whether it's witnessing someone hurt themselves or something along those lines - don't get me wrong i would try and help that person out but it's not intentional - it's just a nervous laugh i can't control when i see other peoples reactions to these situations - you know the type when something happens & then some loud mouth comes along going " Oh my god are you all right"- i really do feel terrible when it happens but i just can't stop myself:o

Both, love shopping, old movies, body treatments ect..
And i also love watching sport, Gaa and Rugby.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Pigletlover

I'm a mix. I like clothes, handbags and shoes but I'm not into make up. I'll wear it when I'm going out but I couldn't be bothered with having to put it on every morning, I prefer to stay in bed that little bit longer! I never bother with beauty treatments, my nails are quite long but that's just because they're naturally very strong, I just clip them every week or so. I'm not into getting my hair done either, I get highlights and a trim every couple of months but the rest of the time I just straighten it myself, only at the weekends though, I throw it up during the week.

When I was younger I got on better with boys, I always found girls to be bitchy and two faced. I hate manipulative women and I think men are often treated unfairly by the courts in cases of seperation or parenting rights. I also agree with a lot of the comments about women that some would claim are sexist. Like when I see a driver doing something stupid I think to myself that it has to be a woman and 9 times out of 10 it is!

Reading that I sound more like a man than a woman! But while I'll watch sports and action films I like chick flicks too. I also love to cook and while I don't enjoy it I do all the housework.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,134 ✭✭✭Lux23

No idea what you think you are isn't exactly what people see you as. Alot of my friends are male so to them I am probably quite girlie even for the gay ones and my flat mate who is quite a boyish lesbian thinks Im very girlie so I don't know. But on the otherhand I hate all the girlie stuff she likes like dopey pop stars and woeful books like Ps I Love you. Sentimental stuff makes me want to puke. So im halfway between the two. I like sport but mainly for the players legs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 491 ✭✭*Lees*

Im a mix of both I would say too!!
I work in an office so I'm required to 'dress up' during the day and I wear a little makeup and try and make myself look as respectable as possible!! In my own time and at weekends I don't wear make-up and live in jeans and hoodys!! When I go out on the town though it's a totally different story, I put loads of effort into hair and make-up and I'm really into getting dolled up!!

I studied mechanical engineering in college so I used to be around the college in my overalls and did welding etc!! I used to get really funny looks, I do look like I would be quite girly I suppose!!Im really into cars and spend lots of time and money at mine!!!

I get on well with girls and guys!! I have a big gang of girlfriends and when we get together on a night out there's always mayhem! None of us are total girly girls we're all fairly cool and normal!! On the other hand I have a lot of guy friends since college and guys im friendly with through being into cars!! I'd say they think I'm quite girly but not dumb!

I love pink, I cry if I'm slightly upset, I love puppies and babies!! love girly films and stupid girly shows on tv but at the same time I love action films and gangster movies just as much if not more!!
I stayed locked in my room for 2 days playing need for speed on the XBox to the extent where I spelled like cabbage. Oh, I'm really messy too and I'm not a great cook!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

    very very largely non girly.

though if you mixed nightwish, dudess, and a little bit of lil kitten's posts... that's kinda me summed up.

but not indy chick, so much as music in general.

QFT. I come across as being almost chauvinist in my opinions of females. I hate babies, overly doting mothers and women drivers (although I am one, but I insisted on learning from a man).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

in general, i don't like girls only very very rarely getting on well with girly girls, though there are none i would count as close mates. actually, i would only count two girls as in my inner type circle of friends, i always just find guys easier to talk to and stuff.

i cannot stand girls who treat men like ****, flirting one minute, but bitching about how superior they are cos htey can 'bend a man to their will' behnind their backs.

    sorry, horribly phrased, but still...

Have to say, I rarely like women. I mean, I can get on with almost anyone but I only have maybe one or two close female friends. The rest are all male.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭Solarball10

hmmm i reckon I have an equal amount of female and male friends...it's a good balance.

Like when I see a driver doing something stupid I think to myself that it has to be a woman and 9 times out of 10 it is!k.

    Thats aload of poo!!
i'm an excellent driver, i passed my drivers test first time , unlike my father or brother, and i practically drive for a living...and during my (nearly)4 yrs working there, the males have had more accidents than us girls...
Had to get a bus today though, cos my car is in the garage, and the bus driver (male) was the worse driver in the world! he kept swapping lanes and beeping at people if they got in his way..i wanted to tell him that most of the time he was the one in the wrong..

so it works both ways, a bad driver is a bad driver, no matter what the sex.

ozzyoh im totally the exact same as you. im both. love my girly books and i cry and soppiest of things but due to growing up with two bro's my girlyness goes out the window. have loads of sport jerseys and live in my desert boots but i love dressing up for my man. noting more powerful than knowing you can turn a guy on by dressing the way you know he likes. i can still turn heads and get the odd whistle and i just love it. i get a bit of a rush from it.

I think nerdy is probably the best word, I couldn't give a crap really about how I look most of the time, I wear hoodies and baggy jeans a lot, I'm not a fan of pink at all, I can't walk in high heels, and I spend way too much time behind a computer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,706 ✭✭✭Matt Holck

don't like talking about self (Male)
don't like watching sports or slow movies
    Like singing
    athletic (cant sit still)
    likes design
    no make up piercing tattoo
    can cook
don't like my post count rising

Bit of both, like most everyone. I look the girly girl part. I wear make up, dress nicely, go to the spa and the salon. The only things I don't bother with are my nails. I love sports, but the girly sports - gymnastics and figure skating - in particular. I don't like getting dirty, and I'm not outdoorsy in the camping sense. I like the beach or going for walks.
That all sounds pretty girly, but on the other hand, my sense of humor and taste in movies is not very girly. I hate romantic comedies and dramas. Give me mysteries, action movies, thrillers, political dramas or raunchy comedies any day. I actually dislike romance in general. I prefer for things to be more laid back. I just don't see the point in trying so hard. I don't tend to be as outwardly emotional as other women I know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 193 ✭✭whatsgoinon

i have 4 brothers, I am a tomboy, I HATE shopping, and do most of it online, I go to the hairdresser twice a year, I love my jeans and vintage tshirts. When I have to, I will wear a skirt, I wear make-up when I go out but it kind of pains me to put it on, as I usually have started drinking before i decide to do it!

I like action and indie movies, I HATE chick lit, I'm not a massive fan of pink, god help anyone who tries to link my arm walking down the street.

I fart and belch, don't want all those nasty toxins building up inside!

When it comes to opposite sex, they generally need to be spontaneous, humourous, willing to defend their opinion, without bowing to pressures from me, caring, but not soft. No public displays of affections. Need to have a backbone and not let me walk all over them.

I have checked and i'm definitely female on the outside, is it possible i have a boy brain???!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,890 ✭✭✭embee

I am the most ungirly female on this planet.

I hate make up. I hate GHD's. I can't understand the point of nail varnish. I don't get why women like the colour pink - IMO it only ever looks good on newborn babies. I cannot understand why women cry at movies. I do not go to the spa. I do not have facials. I don't understand why women drown themselves in overpowering, horrible perfume. I can't get on the fake tan train at all. I don't know why a lot of women seem to have a preoccupation with chocolate. I detest shopping. I will never understand why shoes are so amazing. Puppies and kittens are just baby animals - they aren't any cuter than grown up ones. I have a baby, but I don't generally like other peoples babies. I can't stand women who use periods as an excuse to whinge, moan and engineer fights with their bewildered partners.

Really, the only thing "girly" about me at all is that I have a fully functioning uterus - one careful resident so far.

Bit of both. I think the shrieking screaming girly girls (yee know who yee are ;)) give the rest of us who love being girls a bad name. As the only girl in my family have always been a bit of a tom boy - love gangster films (goodfellas :)), could beat Eamonn Dunphy in an argument about football, adverse to chicklit etc. but I love my girly things aswell.. and yes wearing pink!!

Embee you are a gas woman.

I have to say that I love love love puppies.
Well Im pretty girly, love getting pampered and wearing pink. Though I am wearing all black today. Love diehard and action films. Used to like chicklit books, but after being with my ex for so long I think much more like a bloke and cant stand soppy chick lit now- the exception being Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes, though they are more funny than soppy. I have a very low threshold for bull****, if I dont like someone I cannot fake it (I know a lot of girls that can). I really dont get women who give out about men all the time, in my experience, men are much easier to read, to understand, and are much more easygoing.

My musical tastes are v girly and eclectic (to the point of cheese I have to say:o:o) I love Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton, 80's and 90's rock ballads etc.

    You are the fragile type!

Your whole demeanor just screams "protect me"! but do you really need to be protected?
You are petite, cute and soft spoken
You are shy and timid around people and as a result have only close friends who you would give your life for
You are loving, caring and kind; you will be a great doctor one day
People feel at rest and peace when they are in your presence
A dark, yet (strangely enough) a well loved person.

SheRa marry me! (hey might as well jump on Damo's bandwagon!) Also here's a test for the guys that frequent this forum.

    http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=3614942680923062423

    This was my result:
    Your Score: Schweet' art
You scored 6 athleticism, 20 friendliness, 5 intelligence, and 13 coolness!

Aren't you just the nicest guy? You just aim to please, and are the obvious choice for many a mercy date. Hey, just because she has hair on her upper lip doesn't mean she doesn't need love, too!

Hmmm I'm a mix of both I suppose.
Love my sport footie, rugby and gaa to the point of obsession, I've had an ex give out about the amount of sport I watched, i think he was just pissed off i knew more then he did.
TV wise, love my dexter, Firefly, Criminal minds, Top gear etc.. but I am partial to some DH, and other mind numbing crap.
    I hate soaps.
I'll read Heat every now and then, but I'd mostly read the Dexter books or the Nightwatch trilogy.
Fav bands are Foo fighters and BellX1, love my music too.
I don't really like chick lit or chick flicks, i'd rather a good horror or thriller.
Oh and i can put together flat packs..:D
I suppose I am girlie in the fact that I am blonde, I do look after my apperance, and like to look good for me, and me alone.
And sometimes I do secretly listen to Girls Aloud and I own Britneys Greatest hits cd.
Women can be bitches be can be completely amazing friends when you need them, on the other hand I'll go to my bloke mates when i need honesty or some practial advice.

And according to that quiz I'm a:
    Silent Girl.
Although you hardly speak to anyone except those that are close you, doesn't mean that you have nothing to say
In fact, you are very opinionated and strong on the inside but feel that to waste these qualities on those unfit for it is a waste of time and energy, go you!
    You are elegant and mysterious
You love deeply with all your heart and soul
You are the kind of person I would hold on to and never let you go

Hmm, well I wear makeup all the time, love dressing up in nice girly dressy clothes but at the same time I'd sooner watch a boxing match and drink beer with the lads than sit watching Sex and the City with a load of giggly girls.. What does that make me??

    You are the fragile type!
Your whole demeanor just screams "protect me"! but do you really need to be protected?
You are petite, cute and soft spoken
You are shy and timid around people and as a result have only close friends who you would give your life for
You are loving, caring and kind; you will be a great doctor one day
People feel at rest and peace when they are in your presence
A dark, yet (strangely enough) a well loved person.

Oooh.... for the limited amount of questions that's actually pretty good.

I'm totally the girl next door:

You are the childhood friend/girl next door type!

    I totally love you!
You're, smart, funny and cute as hell!
You're always there for everyone and love helping out and having fun
People love because youre so approachable and outgoing
You are going to make a fantastic mother one day and the people around won't be able to live without you
Your beautiful eyes hold a love and kindness strong enough to melt anyone's heart
People can't help but love you

Awesome! Doesn't mention if she collects kinder eggs or not, though.
