This just in from George Broussard over on the 3D Realms Forums:

"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.

After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.

Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.

I'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John)."

That's right, it's the end of times. Now translating that from 3D Realms Central Time that means we should be checking out the video around 2 p.m. Mountain, 2027.

i read this, and laughed.

the buzz is either this'll be great and make us want the game, or be like every other videogame trailer of late, and be CG purely for marketing purposes.

my bet's on the latter. surely they're nowhere near releasing proper footage of the game, since earlier in the year they were saying there are various bits of the game completed in different game engines from different era's.

The concept is a tad outdated considering what people expect from FPS games these days.

I was thinking myself that his kind of hero is very outdated at this stage, but if the game turns out to be a nice, fun shooter with a bit of comedy thrown in I'm all for it. I'm kind of sick of bad fps protag's who take themselves too seriously.

kool, i still have on my pc the orginal trailer from all those years ago. new engine and everything by now again id say. New storyline does anyone know? i havent even googled it in years so i know nothing besides the age old "when its done"

Dosen't do anything a teaser should. Also, is that the original voice? It sounds terrible. It's like me doing a Bruce Campbell impression.

For feck sake, 10 years and they release a CGI vid of an awkward moving Duke, flashing images of a few bad guys?

Where's the damn ten years worth of in-game content (that's probably been mangled across several different 3D engines at this stage) ? :mad:

It'd almost be a pity for this to get released, it's kind of an Internet joke / sub-culture urban legend.

Cool Teaser Lets hope this gets released sometime in 2008! (Wishful thinking but anyhow), we did get Stalker after a long wait, and besides the bugs (Which were mostly ironed out in patches) it definately delivered a good game, Lets hope 3D Realms make this good

Just saw the trailer. Looks like something I'll enjoy. Duke3D was loved due to the "storyline" amongst other things, and I'd say when it comes out in the autumn of 2008, it'll be a good laugh to play.

Oh, and Duke was never about looking amazing. Duke was about kicking some aliens ass, and sh|ting down their throat. As for the voice, it sounds like Dukes voice.

After nine years and with graphics looking the way they do in the trailer (i.e. not great), I'd be hoping for the most polished game EVAR with a huge and original story line.

You don't really get to see much of the graphics to be honest, I think they're fine, even if the style is getting on. Good graphics don't usually make a good game. Crysis is crap.

It looks alright to me, can't help but wonder if I'll still be playing games when it eventually comes out.
The Wikipedia page lists it as keyboard and mouse control, but I reckon telepathic control will be the norm on release day...

Quite a poor trailer and I really thought they would just let Duke Nukem drift into retirement and hope that everyone would forget about the long running gag...Remember what happened when Daikanta (sp?) tried to prove everyone wrong that it would never come out.
