Just a quick question guys about what makes of holster the majority of us use, and why. Safariland vs Fobus. Viper vs Webtex. I'm a lefty and sometimes find it difficult to find good reliable well made stuff to suit me. At the minute I'm using a tac. dropleg from viper as it was not that difficult to come by left handed and available at a very reasonable price. So lads how do we feel about the platforms that carry our precious pieces?

same here vtec, although i didn't get mine from Shiva, only thing I find is that with the likes of a bigger piece, say a p226, its a bit of a squeze. G17 fits the finest though. nice choice on the fobus, Gotta git me one of thoses!!;)

I can't get a decent one for my P99. I saw a few but they're all a bit, meh. I have a generic viper one and some other one that I can't remember the brand of but they're both a cumbersome and require certain belts.
I'd love a SERPA panel holster or a Fobus for it.

drop leg holsters get on my nerves, they keep moving around no matter how tight they are and ya cant run properly with them on., i just remove the belt bit and use it as a belf holster, its a lot more stable and comfortable.,

It's the SERPA I want though! I want a moulded one that fits to a leg panel.

been on fobus website ,have a holster for every glock except the 18c,might just get one that fits the G 17

no difference in the body, cept the selector and some more important bits on the inside. so it should fit a g17 bag no probs with a bit of a push, watch out for tac light specifications, if your going down that path. What about a safariland? Nobody in here like em? shame.. top notch stuff and tryed an tested.:D

I'll fight the Safariland's corner. I've got 6004's for my Glock 17 with Tactical Illuminator, 6004 for the P229 with Tactical Illuminator, 6285's for the Glock and the Sig (with torches) and a 6280 for the Glock without Tac Illuminator. I find them great holsters. The rotating hood is a godsend for fast draws and re-holstering and I've never had a problem with fit. I wear a 6285 for 8 hours a day and it's really comfortable (as holsters go) and the guys wearing the 6004 find them great. They have a large plate which the holster attaches onto which makes it really sturdy against your leg and the two elasticated straps keep it in place.

They're a robust holster and will take a bit of knocking. Also, the retention's really good and they're designed in such a way as to make it difficult for anyone to grab your gun from the holster.

I've got a PWL leather 2 position pancake holster for the G17 with torch as well. I use their elasticated mag pouches sized for the 17 mags which coincidentially fit MP5 mags as well. Find them terrific.

not too bad really, it only took me about 10 mins to do it but it is silly that they dont make one for it, although the real G18 is only made for governments, armys ect so there not as common as the other glocks.,

I use an M12 holster (genuine military issue) made by the cathay company for the US to holster the M9. I find its an excellent holster strong secure and stylish. can be modded to be a thumb break holster and can be mounted on the appropriate drop leg panel. I find it holds M9s, M1911s, and G34s without any trouble.

I have a Blackhawk SERPA (Leg panel), never had any trouble with it moving around. Unlike my previous 'soft' legholster. Plus you can get bits for it to make it into a molle holster or a shoulder holster.
I think FOBUS and SERPA is the same kinda idea, but never tried a FOBUS.

I use a phantom drop leg for an 18c... its great... its backed with rubber so it doesnt move much on your leg...

what i ment by it moving around lads is that when you run the gun moves as your running, the holster stays where it is but it feels like you have a pendulum strapped to your leg., I still use one but its far better to have a fobus belt hoster, its a lot more stable.,

I'm kinda impressed by Safariland holsters, used by the pros. SF and the majority of police forces around the world can't be wrong!
