hows it goin folks, have a query for any bassists out there

i need a new bass, theres quite a bit of fret buzz off my current one (which may well be my being sh!t, but still) and im looking for recommendations >€400

im not too savvy about these things, whats the difference between a single and dual pickup bass? from what ive picked up it seems the single pickup ones tend to be for heavier stuff (may not be true), which is what id be looking for, but what exactly is the difference, apart from the obvious one has 2 pickups one has 1

the one i have at the moment is a cheap oul harley benton yoke and its served me well the moderately few times ive been bothered to learn it, but im actually making tracks now with guitar and bass in them so it would be handy to get something decent enough which was suitable without spending a shedload because at the end of the day everythings gonna be processed to f*ck on computer anyway

the kinda stuff ill be using it for would range from kasabianish kinda stuff, to pretty heavy rocky stuff, and therell be a bit of industrial as well. therell be a fair bit of distortion on anything anyway

ideally id be looking for a nice defined and warm sound from her when clean, a nice bit of a high mid presence would be nice but not essential, and when its running through effects i want it to be aggressive and full, but thats as much to do with the effects as the bass, and im covered in the effects dept

probably too much detail for some stuff there and not enough detail for others lol, but i gave it me best shot

    cheers in advance

    pete

From the sounds of it, a Jazz bass would be your best bet. :):)
A Mexican Fender Jazz would be a good step up from the Harley Benton. You'd be best going to some local guitar stores and trying them out. You can always find them cheaper online later if you want, or buy it there and then if you have massive uncontrollable G.A.S. :D
