    3 new posts
from RTE report... The three posts to be created are a manager with international rugby experience, a dedicated backs coach, and a psychologist.

The new manager is to be.. 'a person, with international rugby experience, as part of the Management Team, to play a support role for the National coach'.

The backs coach - a role that has up until now fallen directly under the remit of head coach Eddie O'Sullivan - will 'further strengthen the management team' according to Browne, while the third new man 'will provide ongoing psychological support for the team and management'.

Does this in effect undermine electric eddie?

I would say it does, no manager or coach likes a person put in over their head and as we all know Eddie likes to be in total control. Hopefully this won't be like what happened to England 18 months back-a change in backroom personal and nothing changing at the top.

Any chance the report will be published?

The whole report being published? Two chances....
Small un-controversial parts being leaked, probably.

Does that mean we still have no scrum coach? It's not mentioned as a new appointment.

I particularly like the piece on the IRFU web page where Mr P Browne states

"The IRFU views this report as a vital piece of research which it will use to introduce reforms in the specific areas highlighted and to guide its short, medium and long term planning for Ireland’s elite teams. In saying this we acknowledge that it will not be practicable to implement a number of these recommendations pre the upcoming Six Nations Championship."

In other words, 'We're great and right as always' now go away and let fast Eddie and Co carry on.......!!!

Cop out, its a wonder they didn't include the 100,000 irish fans who spent a small fortune supporting this team, in their collective responsibility

"Genesis report reveals the IRFU were right all along. Small changes to be implemented to make them more right."

    Well, who would have guessed?

With any luck a poor 6 nations will get rid of the fool, then we can start building for the future

Who would you get in to replace him if he gets the boot? (which I think looks pretty likely)

Michael Bradley is coming along nicely. Could be the man for the future.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Either the IRFU are blind or they are desperate for this to blow over and get back to old ways.....Honestly this is going nowhere EOS wont have someone really viying [spelling?] for his place thus he'll still be up to his old tricks of a 15 man game with the "untouchables"

Anyone else think that the only way we have any decent way of getting through this 6N with embarrassing ourselves to throw this "pretty" play that EOS went on about and go with the old 10 man hit the corners and win the game that way? Honestly name one decent "Irish" backline thats on form at the moment and compare them to the "Irish" packs that are getting preforming the best they have ever been.

Conor O'Shea is building up a nice CV for himself courtesy of the RFU. I think he did a good job with the exiles while he was there.

Great to see my money continues to go towards more back-clapping and no-one having the balls to stick their hand up. What a COMPLETE waste of money.

He is such a talisman , the players would rally around him and for sure he would be a strong counterbalance to Eddie solo management style !

Not enough experience, needs to make his bones in a coaching role lower down the scale first, but after that, by all means....big difference between motivating peers on a pitch and organising/managing a rugby team with all its Machiavellian requirements.

Bloody hell some people are so fickle! After last year's 6N, Eddie was God! One bad world cup and it's out with the noose... I think the chances of him pulling back after screwing up after the world cup are every bit as good as a new coach making an improvement.

Tbh most new rugby followers said that after the England performance and thought that just beating them meant everything thing is it ll be a extremely long time before we ever play like that again and it was probably a once of performance. Secondly we lost that 6N with the most inconsistent performance of the whole lot. Thirdly WC only come 4 years and they are holy grails in the rugby world cup we'v always done bad with them and this year we could of done much more with what we had but we didnt. Fact is we almost lost to two amateur teams and melted away against France and Argentina. Let it be reminded that this was the first time ever that Ireland have failed to get out of there group stages Gatland got booted for less!

QFT - real student of the game too. His analysis of games seems to be head and shoulders above anyone with whom he is commenting.

Ah sure it's all Rupert Murdoch's fault according to McGurk. Or maybe it's because he has to sit out in the cold now instead of in a nice studio.
