ive bought a camcorder from pixmania.ie. it arrived in portlaoise on the 11th and still no sign of it so i rang an post. they said customs had it for a day or too. i assumed id already paid the taxes (as they were added onto the total cost) so will i have to pay more now or would they have had it for some other reason?

There shouldn't be any as Pixmania are EU based. Maybe An Post were just fobbing you off since they're very busy right now.

Or maybe customs decided to randomly stop it for a security check.
