    wat u guys reckon?

    Blackburn v Arsenal
Carling Cup Matches, Tuesday 18th December 2007, 20:00
    Arsenal to win the match
    10 or less corners
    Card Index:Up to and Including 35 points @ 10 - 1

Went for spurs and city to be over 1.5 goals @ 3-10
Nothing else really appealed to me.

Ace why is that exact same bet @10-1 and 12-1?

There will be more than 10 corners - both teams tactics will be 'run to the corners-and get the ball into the box'

There should be lots of everything, its the way Carling cup games tend to be - cards, corners, goals.

I'd say there will be more than 10 corners however Arsenal play through the middle and rarely attack the box from anywhere near the byline.

Think I'll do over 2.5 goals for the arsenal match and maybe 9pts or more in the cards index.

I am thinking of going for

    B Munich half time/full time 1.81

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

BM are so bad at the moment I'd stay away from that one. That said they have to win that match to be sure of progressing.

I'm being brave - 100 on double of over 1.5 goals.

    Mike.

What a bad day I am having... I thought the Bayern match was on today! Oh well time to back City

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭IrishMike

    Spurs 1-0 after 5 mins
My bet of over 1.5 is looking good considering spurs defensive record and citys home scoring record

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,808 Mod ✭✭✭✭Keano

    I got City @ 5.2 - spurs down to 10 as well.

Arsenal 2 up so half my bet is safe.

Saw this on Betfair forums, looks very promising and the guy who posted it is Greek
I cannot believe the value given for Panionios' win

    1.65 is FREE MONEY!!!

Panionios needs a win to qualify
Bordeaux has already secured first place and ......listen to this......

THE HAVE TRAVELLED TO ATHENS WITH ONLY 15 PALYERS, NONE OF THEM PLAYED AT THE LAST FRENCH LEAGUE GAME AGAINST MARSEIG

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! YOU HEARD IT FIRST FROM

so what u guys reckon do this accumulator - 4/1

    1 Reggina v Inter Milan
Coppa Italia Matches, Wednesday 19th December 2007, 19:30
    Inter Milan @ 8 - 15

    2 Bayern Munich v Aris
UEFA Cup Matches, Wednesday 19th December 2007, 19:45
    Bayern Munich @ 2 - 9

    3 Panionios v Bordeaux
UEFA Cup Matches, Wednesday 19th December 2007, 19:45
    Panionios @ 8 - 13

    4 Real Union v Valencia
Spanish Cup Matches, Wednesday 19th December 2007, 20:30
    Valencia @ 8 - 15

Can anyone tell me what are real union any good? and would valencia be playing a full team or what...

Both Bayern and Panionios have to win to go through and both are at home, while inter in top and the other team have lost last 2 matches are are 2nd last in the league. its just the valencia game that i reckon could be iffy...

This is one of the biggest games in the history of Panionios and they hope they can make it to the next stage against an indifferent and already qualified opponent.

    PANIONIOS

Panionios broke a 28 year lasting tradition when they beat Panathinaikos 1-0 at their home ground during the weekend. The morale in the team is as high as it can get and really strong home support is expected tonight. For Panionios only victory will 100% secure qualification. Coach Ewald Lienen won yesterday the Best Manager award for 2007 from the Greek Footballers Union, as a recognition to the excellent work he is putting through in the squad.

There are no significant injuries or suspensions for Panionios and they will fight fiercely to kick out Galatasaray, having an addidional motive as the turkish side captured a totally undeserved and much helped from the referee win at Athens.

    BORDEAUX

Bordeaux are one of the 4 sides with a perfect until now record in the group stage of the uefa cup and have already secured the top spot of the group. On Sunday night they fought back from 0-2 down at home against Marseille to get a 2-2 draw.

Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc stated that this game is a good chance for him to rest players that are tired by consecutive games. Unfortunately i can't name the players that will not feature today.

    VERDICT

Everything here points to a Panionios win : Bordeaux will not field main squad, they have no key players missing and Greece is always a hard place to get results. Plus Panionios have a good squad. Maybe they haven't yet performed at their best in domestic competition (i rate them as a top 5 club this season) but this is one of the most important matches in the history of the club.<br />

However, for prices of 1.6 that are available, i won't go crazy on that bet as there is always a chance that in such games where the reserves play for the bigger team a new star suddenly rises. Also, patient as Panionios will be, if the goal is not coming, stress may overwhelm the squad and the game is stuck on 0-0. Maybe this home win is a good pick to combine with another similar bet today to create a strong home win double.

    Panionios@1.6+, normal stakes

    Got that from goonersguide.
Might have been a little hastly in my backing of bordeaux not to lose.

I just put a fair few quid on Chelski -v- pool on more than 1.5 goals. I think that was the worst mistake I have made in a long long time - i dont know why i done it.

Not so stupid I think, Liverpool cup ties tend to be goal-fests if not always for the right reasons.

They have a derby on sunday with AC so probably not the strongest team out.

Goalkeepers: 22 Paolo Orlandoni, 71 Enrico Alfonso.

Defenders: 16 Nicolas Burdisso, 23 Marco Materazzi, 24 Nelson Rivas, 25 Walter Samuel, 35 Dennis Esposito, 40 Ivan Fatic, 47 Marco Filippini.

Midfielders: 21 Santiago Solari, 30 Pelé, 31 Cesar, 37 Gabriele Puccio, 42 Ibrahim Maaroufi, 43 Daniele Pedrelli.

Strikers: 18 Hernan Crespo, 45 Mario Balotelli, 46 Aiman Napoli, 48 Alberto Gerbo.

I think he will be keen not to conceed in the first leg and possibly get 1 or 2 goals at the same time. I'd imagine Crespo will come on around the 60th as impact

You are right, they are in poor shape (3 losses and a draw) and have a big game away to Real Zaragoza who are just 3 places below them on Saturday. The things is cos CL even UEFA Cup spot might beyond them this season they might actually put all thier effort into a decent domestic cup run. Tricky.

If i was a betting man i'd put a few quid on the Reggina v Inter Milan game - for Reggina not to score @ 2.25

Edit/ thats 5/4 in the old system!

I got my hole opened with Blackburn last night. Not content to back them when they were 1 down (perish the thought that I'd lay Arsenal instead), I decided to back again in ET when they were a man up. Worst gambling night of my life. :o

Anyway, onwards and upwards. I'll have a look at this evenings games and see if I can pull it back a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,951 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

In the end - decided to go with a treble(thinkin now i should of read here first, but anyway here it is):

    Roma 11/10
    inter 8/15
    bayern munich 2/7

shall be a very happy man if this comes in(though knowin my luck it won't)

    4 draws for me

    fc zurich v leverkusen
    toulouse v sp moscow
    torino v roma
    udinese v palermo

    76-1 with PP

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭semibluff

The form book would not seem to favour Michael Skibbe's side, despite good results in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen have not won an away game in UEFA club competition since winning 2-0 at Maccabi Haifa FC in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League group stage. Their last 18 UEFA competition away games have produced five draws and 13 defeats.

    • Zürich, by contrast, are unbeaten in their last nine home games since losing 2-1 at home against KRC Genk in the first round of the 2000/01 UEFA Cup.

very interesting. going by this zurich +1, 4/9
    braga to win 1/3
    munich 2/9
    panios 8/13

pays over 5/2 - thats my bet, with panios the sweat

Ace2007, id leave roma out - cant fund myself backing them after i lumped versus ManU

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,951 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

meh - bit late now, i too was going to back

    braga to win 1/3
    panios 8/13

but i know nothing about either team, and panios - is just from some tip a random guy gave above... and was looking at the table... so decided to do roma instead

Yup the oul equivalent of the carling/FA cup!

A little more important than the carling - a little more important than the FA Cup

    • Worryingly for Panionios, they have lost four of their last five European home games, with their only continental victories under Lienen coming away from home. They have lost both of their UEFA Cup home games this season, 1-0 against FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in the first round and 3-0 against Galatasaray last month.

    • Panionios have played five games against French sides in European competition, and have lost all but one of them, breaking their duck with the 2-0 win at Sochaux that sent them into the group stage this season.
