ADVICE needed on broken Camera

    Hi all,
last night my girlfriend broke her new digital camera while out on the town at her friends birthday. wel my girlfriend didn't brake it, 1 of her drunkun mates did. she left it fall.

Anyway the problem is, when she turns it on, it says zoom error and won't take pictures. Also the lens at the front stays out when the camera is turned off, it should retract. It's a Fujifilm camera if thats of any use.

My QUESTION is: can this be repaired? (I know it won't be covered under warranty as it was dropped but I am willing to pay for it to be repaired as she really likes the camera which she paid €200 for)

If so, do anybody know, is it worth getting repaired? or would I be better off buying her a new 1 for christmas.

i suggested that her friend pay for it to be repaired as she broke it but she was having none of it.

    Any help much appreicated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Looder

digital cameras usually cannot be repaired unless a specific part that can be replaced has broken this is the case even on the more expensive models ie the pro models. I would say get a new one.

I suppose you could send it of to their service center and see if they could repair it.

estimated price to repair it will be €120 - €200 based on me previously working in a place that saw that kind of camera error every day

phone fuji ireland and send it in to them for repair after talking to them over the phone rather than oing through one of dublins camera shops

Best way to go.. its a pity that they cant be repaired cheaply but thats the price us modern consumers have to pay... :(
