    Hi

There will probably be a lot of saliva exchange this Christmas when the mistletoe is hung up in doorways. Does anyone have it growing in their trees? I have never seen it growing wild.

    Any pics?

    Cheers

    Ian

    Hi

Mistletoe reminds me of an old girlfriiend of mine.

The plant is especially interesting botanically because it is a partial parasite (a "hemiparasite"). As a parasitic plant, it grows on the branches or trunk of a tree and actually sends out roots that penetrate into the tree and take up nutrients. Just like my old girlfriend used to do. They can live on their own though, which is what she finally did!

Spread by the Mistle Thrush, apparently, while it tries to scrape the sticky berries off its beak!

Thrush and a variety of kissing spread infections can now be treated with a number of products available from your local pharmacy.

    Hold on a sec.

Where the **** did this tradition come from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

From guys that wanted a quick and easy way for a snog? Of course if they had waited a little bit later on when everyone was a little tipsy, the whole party's your mistletoe.
