Quick question. A very (very) long time ago I posted having trouble with my VGA cable for my Dell screen. It was causing it to go out of colour when moved. Well, I managed to stop it from doing so but it went again - so I just went in and bought a new VGA cable (Male) for €20 in PC World. Quickest way, even thought it wasnt that cheap! Its a Belkin make, but since installing it there is a very light bluring affect / shadow affect on the screen. Is very frustrating, and has tabs in Firefox espically looking odd.

Before I bring it back, assuming its down to a dodgy VGA, has anyone else any suggestions on fixing it? Googled it, usual stuff abou poor graphics card or vga cable.

    Cheers.

GET a PCI graphics card on adverts.ie .10 euro, if you still have a blur ,its the monitor, if its a CRT monitor,go to monitor menu, regauss it.you can change color settings, brightness in monitor menus, and rgb output.

Last time I bought a monitor cable (about 7 years ago and not in PC World), I had to return two of them before they gave me one with acceptable results at high resolutions. All cables were from different manufacturers and the issue was as you describe. Two borrowed cables worked fine so it couldn't have been a monitor or card problem.

Iv reset factory settings on the screen which inst a CRT. The last cable was okay but the thing is it was dodgy getting colour right - depended how I twisted the cable.

Its not awful, but its not the same!

try safe mode winxp, reduce your cards refresh rate to 60mhz, at 800x600, then try 1024x768, knock off vsync.LOok
in adverts ,computer clearout ,clearance ,parts for sale, go back ten days, theres always cards for sale.ARE you using crt, most crts are 60mhz max, look at label on the back.Or look on ebay.ie .MAY crt color is slightly fading ,on 1side top 19inch crt, but then its 9 years old.I know its not the cable ,cos i have 3 vga cables.IF you have an lcd ,they are really designed for 1 resolution ,1024,or whatever.its no harm to reduce your refresh rate.try plugging monitor into a friends laptop.

Refresh rate is at 60 @ 1024*768 already. Nothing wrong with the card. Moving it makes no difference, will try switching it around, will connect lappy to it and test it.

Turned it around no difference, went back to old cable and its improved.

Its only a very slight issue, nothing major but annoying all the same
