Does anyone else think a training log sub-forum would be a good idea? The thought occurred to me earlier to start keeping a log of my base training (if I ever get going again that is!;)) and I thought maybe if I was posting it up here and getting feedback it might help/motivate me more. Also seeing what others are doing for the same distance races would help me I think.

    Sooo..........any takers?

    Yes/No/Maybe?

Do you think a Training Log Sub-Forum's a good idea? 8 votes

I thought there was one in either the Athletics forum or else the fitness one:confused:

Yeah there is in the fitness one, but that tends to be just people posting up about weight lifting. I thought a triathlon/marathon specific one would be good?

    Yes, I'd support this! Though...

could people post in who don't run marathons/triathlons? As in people who run for exercise/fitness/etc..or should we get another going over in Athletics?

The log over in fitness is mainly for people weight lifting..the lovely people there arn't really not knowledgeable in the field of running/fitness training/speed training etc..

I'd like to be able to post up my times, ask for help, get suggestions etc..

Good idea and not hard to set up, I would imagine...

Not sure I would use it to track my own traioning tho, I use a Garmin and the software there pretty much covers everything I need in a training log.

As for posters then the more the merrier - we all run shorter distances so if someone was training for a 10k and posted a training log here I wouldn't see that as out of place, personally.

Have you ever had a look at www.mapmyrun.com?
very accurate mapping of your run and provide training log.. Details can be made public if you want to share your runs.

Yeah I've used it before, and the training log on www.trifuel.com/forums but since boards.ie is the forum i'd read most it'd be cool to have one here. Plus we're all local (enough) so people can compare run/cycle training routes. The likes of trifuel.com are mainly american lads discussing training, and it's very americanised!

Sure it doesn't look like the interest is there given the number of votes/views of the thread so I guess that's the end of the moment of genius!:o
