A question for golfers

    Hi,

Firstly MODS, this is not an ad, I am just looking for a bit of feedback.

I am currently looking overseas for another property to buy as a holiday home for myself but with potential to rent out when I am not using it.

I was concentrating on beach side properties but I have come across an inshore house that is within very short driving distance of 3 golf courses (in a country with a very hot climate most of the year round).

So my question is....Would you consider renting such a property for a golfing holiday/break with "The Lads"?

Or would you prefer a hotel & I should stick to the beach areas?
I am not a golfer myself so the close proximity of the courses doesn't appeal to me but if it means I can rent it out easily then thats a different matter.

    Cheers.

yeah i think people wud be interested in renting it out.

most people probably stay in hotels but if it wasnt too expensive im sure a lot of people would love having a place for themselves

i have a villa (hence torregolf) within 10 mins drive of 3 golf courses. Very few golfers rent it - you will need to target them specifically in golf magazines etc - they also like nice restaurants and bars close by

Agree - renting out villas is difficult though I don't know why.

If you want to rent, you need to have a seaside location and a swimming pool (with a reasonable number of units per pool).

The reason people find it hard to rent is because when an agent is selling a phase of apts or villas, they give the going rate for rentals and the potential number of weeks one can rent. However, they do not tell you that (as most people are buying to rent), the market is at saturation point. Buyers are often blown away by the promises of rentals, but the facts are that you will only rent a max of 12 to 16 weeks - good side of this is that there is not a huge wear and tear on property and you can use it yourself.

Good points by Torregolf........I don't want to stray too far off the original topic though.

Yes if you want an apartment to rent out then it must have the right location. It must be in popular areas close to the beach and nightlife. That's not everyone's ideal holiday but it's what sells.

There are so many new developments going up that it makes it hard to get rentals so beware if you are thinking of buying for that reason.

The golf market is a much smaller market but once again location is critical. Advertising your apartment is key but how do you do it????

I think it is difficult to get rentals with the great deals being given by hotel offering golf packages.
In saying that i organised a group of 24 golfers last year and we had six apts in the one complex near the golf course andf it worked out great.
Next year we are looking at a similar group going to Turkey 5* AI for about 1k
