Compact Camera recommendation for Macro

A friend of mine is asking for a recommendation for a compact camera that will take good macro shots. Although i did tell him that macro on a compact wouldn't be anywhere as good as on a SLR with macro lens - he doesn't want to spend that kind of money. Would anyone here have a recommendation?

pretty much all of them have a macro mode and some focus as near as 2cm!! I think aswell that because the depth of field is so great on a compact that the macro's come out clear from front to back.
