i was in barcelona in november and its a really beautiful city, here are the main sights i would recommend:

*a football match at the Nou Camp
    *Parc Guell
*Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia (famous half completed church)
    *Casa Mila
    *Magic Fountain
    *Picasso Museum
*The beach (if the weather stays ok) :D
*Las Ramblas (the main street in barcelona where you will find numerous places to eat, on many side-streets just off las ramblas are irish bars with good food and drink)
*Montjuic (this is a mountain in the middle of the city, go up to the castle for a wonderful view of barcelona, also wander over to the olympic village).

wandering around barcelona just looking at the wonderful if slightly over the top architecture is a great way to spend a few days, the subway system is a very handy way of getting around town

The best advise I can give you is to plan your days.
I was there in November for 3 days and really only scratched the surface.
Defenitley do the open top bus tour, sounds naff I know but it's the best way to see the place.

Bars and cafe's on La Rambla are quite expensive.
If you like tapas (I know I do) there is a place called tapa tapa just of the main plaza that is excellent.
There is another self service one called Bilboa Berria in front of the colon hotel
    which is also very good.

Make sure the camera is fully charged and plenty of space on memory stick, you'll be taking a lot of photos.
