    Hey All,

I'm heading to a friends 21st over the weekend and am wondering should I bring a card and possibly a present. I'm not to sure of the protocol as the only ones i've been to before or either family(present sorted by parents)or indirect friends..I've seen before that people usually bring cards only..Do they just give a card or what??

LOL, I feel pretty stupid asking but I just don't wanna go empty handed and look like a scrooge or go with something and look like a clown..

    Thanks..

If it's a close friend you can bring a present (if ur getting ur friend one). I think the card generally has like vouchers or cash if that person isn't getting a pressie.

Up to you what you prefer.

I'm actually surprised by this.. I know some people who have been to a lot in the past year.. sometimes week in week out for a while.. Students too..

They're hardly giving €20 a pop are they??

I was at loads of 21st parties over the summer and I generally gave €50, as did most of my friends

    Theres a norm?

Usually if its a member of my closest group of friends and a few of us are going, we'd chip in a few quid each and get one big present and a few little funny things.

We always gave each other a card and €21.

About the chipping in with friends thing..

I'm a lad and it's a girls 21st so all her friends will be doing that..I'm not like that close but we're still good friends like..

Do many people just turn up without anything if they're like semi close..?would it be reallly frowned upon?

Yes, it's €21 if you're strapped for cash and whatever you feel like giving if you're a close friend.

Just be glad you're dealing in old money as if would've been a bigger chunk out of your weekly income.

But as with all these things, just give whatever you want.

Card with a score should Do the trick.
unless its a close friend, then more tbh

think about it, would you rather the cash to pick your own thing, or something you might already have
