    Hi,
I’m looking to buy a secondhand o/u shotgun for clay pigeon shooting. I am new to the sport and wanted a fairly cheap starter gun, something that will retain its value if I wanted to upgrade in a year or so.
I have a budget of 500 euro but wanted that to included gun safe, license fee, and some carriages (asking a lot I know) If anyone has one for sale or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
    I’m in Youghal Co CORK..
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

I think "asking a lot" is an under statement paul
2nd hand safe is goin to set you back €100 min
    250 rnds cheap ammo €55 to €65
    licence €25

leaves €300 roughly for gun

Duffy's have a O/U deal at the moment although the gun is probably c**p. It's a new O/U, 250 cartriges and a gun case for 600 euro. I know you would still have to get a safe but it seems to be a good deal. Here it is. :)

Just found this forum saying good things about the gun.

Those baikal's are not a bad gun at all for what you pay for them. In fact you'll have a hard time getting better for the money but you have to keep in mind that it's not a Beretta or a Browning. Personally I wouldn't buy it for any volume clayshooting but for the occasional bit of shooting with the lads in the bog and a bit of game shooting it'll do fine. Be prepared for a bit of a sore shoulder, it's fairly light. .. .

Paul, I'm afraid if you're old enough to have a gun Santa doesn't call around anymore :)

Thanks everyone for your replies, I got a safe for 75 Euros so I’m slowly working down the list!!
I saw the Baikal gun and was thinking of buying that, Do you think I would get a better secondhand gun for the money???

I am still looking for the gun at the moment if anyone has one for sale!!

Quick question as well, saw lots of cheap o/u in the UK.. would it be a nightmare to import one? Is there a firearm dealer that would do it for me for a fee?

Not sure if I’ve been nice enough for Santa, maybe getting coal again this year

I reackon that if you were to spend around 7 to 800 euro you could get a very good secondhand Lanber sporter. They are really good value for that kind of money. very solid and great handling.

You get a lot of good deals secondhand alright, and importation from England shouldn't be overly much hassle. I was planning on bringing a rifle in from Germany and was told to apply for the importation licence at the same time as the firearms cert, shouldn't be any bother. Of course, Garda procedure on the issue seems to vary from place to place, but with luck it shouldn't be any problem. eGun.de seem to have a lot of good deals, you could probably pick up something nice for decent money.
